Lovely book store. Great organization and displays, lots of variety and great authors. Lots of adorable book related gifts and even some local area gifts. Great variety for kids, teens, and adults.

A cute book shop located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood near Eastern Market. A wide selection of books and various genres across two floors. East City Bookshop also holds events with authors multiple times a month and offers great service too!

East City books is my favorite independent book shop in DC! They have a great selection of books. I never have a hard time finding a book I’m looking for or choosing something based on the fantastic staff recommendations.

Right off the Eastern Market metro, East City is perfectly located! It's bright and colorful, they have sooo many fantastic book clubs and their staff is friendly! They also have some cool additional programming and a huge selection of books. They also have some of the best sidelines of the bookstores in DC which is important to me! Their space isn't accessible though and their events are often downstairs. Similar to Kramers, you won't really find many indie published or unique titles, which I always love to hunt for. but you will definitely find the hits.

Visited this bookstore for the first time last week for a book signing. This bookstore was spacious, bright, and super friendly employees. There are several chairs throughout the space so you can sit and enjoy reading. The kids area is adorable and very entertaining for young kids. I love all the hand-written recommendation notes. They really pull your attention to a new book that you may not have noticed. There are several great restaurants nearby as well.

Great bookstore, with really helpful and knowledgeable staff. They are there for you if you need them, or they leave you alone if you prefer to just quietly browse. Good indie books selection. Tons of amazing reads. My 11 year old daughter loved it, and she is already begging to go back. They also have fun little things to add to your books, especially if you are putting a gift together, like stickers, pins, hilarious socks, posters, canvas bags. But it is clear that their focus is on books, and I am here for it. Pay them a visit and support your independent bookstores.

Went for a book signing. Cute place, easily identifiable from the outside (and almost literally next to a metro stop-- SCORE!) Inside was wonderfully decorated and organized by genre. Just about every shelf had a book rec on it, which were both hand written and very helpful and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The whole event was also run very smoothly for something that was hybrid (meaning people could attend in person or online through zoom) and honestly it was a blast to go to even though I'm not from the area. Definitely a place to return to for future events!

My favorite local bookstore near my neighborhood. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they are great about getting you information and also getting you pre-ordered books in a timely way (on release day!). I only wish it were a bit closer to where I live, because it's just far enough that I don't get there enough.

12/10 highly recommend!! This local women-owned bookshop is a book lovers dream and the staff are simply incredible!! I recently discovered this shop when looking to make book purchases to donate to a couple of local groups serving girls. The staff, Sarah and Jennifer, were kind and able to direct me to more than 40 book suggestions that were written by women authors or included women/girls as main characters. The variety of books available at this shop is impressive and there is an array of books with diverse representation (which is super important to me). It was quite refreshing and appreciated! The team also helped me identify a number of books to begin a library selection at our office. They have books for all ages and even couches if you decide to sit down and stay a while. I look forward to visiting again and have found one of my fav new book shops!

The staff is so nice and it's so cozy & cute, I just had to buy a book from here! I bought their bucket list travel journal and it was on sale. That's a win in my book. I will definitely be returning to see what other gems I can snag.

Absolutely adore this bookshop!! It is an independent, woman-owned store and you can tell the staff cares very deeply about their job and the customers. They even have a rewards program where you can get 12% off after a certain amount of purchases; not sure if any other book stores in the city do this. I come here whenever I can so I can rack up points. They have many book club offerings and author events as well. Highly recommend stopping in if you ever have the chance!

I’ve loved this shop for a while, but after their downstairs renovation I had to write a review! Nice selection, and it’s expanding with their new space. Really friendly, and they have a good rewards program. Most recently I’ve been visiting their Home section for the wide range of subjects.
