Shimelis, Jason and Brahmin were incredibly helpful and positive. They all were so helpful with my mother’s wheelchair and helping her get in vehicles. Shimelis danced with my son each time we saw him at the valet stand. He truly went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed.

Almost everything about this hotel was disappointing. I wasn't expecting the Ritz Carlton but goodness Garcia, I paid over $450 a night to stay in what could arguably be described as a 2 star hotel. It's a dump. The front desk staff were frequently unavailable or understaffed. My room key had to be replaced 3x. This is an issue because the area is so crime-ridden you can't get into the hotel after 7pm without your room key. If you're lucky enough to have a security guard there to let you in, he'll admonish you for not knowing how to use the broken card reader. Then expect to wait 10-20 minutes for someone to replace your room key. Thankfully they won't bother to check your ID to replace your room key, so feel free to just make up whatever room you're staying in. Great security. The room was awful too. The bedding was ripped, the trash hadn't been emptied from the previous tenant, and no maid service was offered unless you stayed more than 3 nights. Glad to see Marriott is still exploiting COVID as an excuse to cut costs. I stayed here for the bonvoy points. What a terrible mistake that was. For $50 less/night I could've stayed at the Conrad up the street but I wanted to stay loyal to Marriott. Those days are over. I was here on business and could barely sleep. The hotel is above a bar and my room was next to an elevator, terrible combination. Oh and half the time, there was no hot water. I've stayed in hostels nicer than this. Just stay anywhere else. Anywhere. Go stay in Virginia if you have to, but don't bother with this place. DC crime has gotten out of control and Chinatown is in the thick of it. Marriott needs to divest itself is this property. At this point, I don't think Motel 6 would even want to put their name on this place. I'm done with Fairfield Inn, done with Marriott, and done with Bonvoy. Hilton here we come.

In terms of location, if you are attending an event at Capital One arena as we were, you simply cannot have a better location for a place to stay. This property is in easy and very quick walking distance--basically around the corner) from the arena and of course everything in the Chinatown area of the city. Truly perfection. The other positive I would mention is the front desk staff, both at check in and check out. The women were friendly, efficient, and helpful. But that's it on the good. An exhaustive list of what was wrong is almost impossible, so I will limit to the most notable items. First, we are platinum members and all we got was a couple of water bottles. That's ridiculous. There was no hot water at any point, just lukewarm, and only from the sink faucet. The shower was cold. The light bulbs were burned out except for the ridiculous lamp on the desk, which made the tiny work desk even less usable--see the photo for the six inches of space left between the wall safe, the afore-mentioned lamp, the (unusable) coffee maker, and the TV. Given that we both needed to work, we could not stay long. The floor has soft softs followed by sharp protruding places, and the air conditioning was basically a fan that did not adjust speed. Next time, we'd walk a bit farther for a decent place to stay, especially for the exhorbitant price.

The hotel was very nice and the included breakfast was great. However, the neighborhood was really bad and we were walking through drug addicts and filth for two to three blocks every time we left the hotel to go see the sights or to get dinner. I would suggest staying in a nicer area to avoid this if you are traveling with small children as we were. It is truly sad how bad DC has become under the current administration’s policies. We will not be returning to the district anytime soon after this experience

This is the nicest Fairfield In. I've ever stayed. Clean, attentive staff, perfect location, and generous breakfast. The valet parking was a helpful resource. We also enjoyed the workout room which had everything we needed.I plan to stay here when visiting DC in the future.

The temperature in the room was cool, but it was very humid and sticky. My husband suggested that we ask to be changed to another room, but I just assumed that all of the rooms would be similar. It would have been nice to have a light switch and light for the entrance to the room and an exhaust fan to remove the steam in the bathroom. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location was very walkable to the Capitol, museums and White House.

I stayed at this hotel on July 1, 2023 for one night. At 12:30am I was awakened by yelling and blasting music from the room next to mine. The disturbance continued until well after 2:00am. Two calls to the front desk and security had no impact. The hotel denied my request for a refund as they are adhering to their cancellation policy and didn’t even offer a partial refund. Never book with Marriott unless you plan on having a raging party in your room because apparently that’s acceptable.

With so many hotel options available in Washington DC, this is one you will want to avoid. I stayed here with a group for business and therefore I didn’t select this hotel by choice. I have been to Washington DC and other big cities numerous times and this is by far the worst hotel I have ever experienced. I don’t usually write bad reviews but I think it’s important for people to know what they are getting themselves into if you’re thinking of staying here. I am honestly very shocked by all of these positive reviews left on Tripadvisor. I’ll be honest by saying that when I first read the reviews, I figured this would be an acceptable hotel, especially since the nightly rate was close to $400. However, I’m not really sure what others are comparing this hotel to, but as a frequent traveler, I will be very honest with my review. First, I will start with the positive and share that all of the employees from the front desk receptionists to the people who managed the breakfast area each day are very kind and friendly. They truly go above and beyond to assist the guests. For a Fairfield Inn, the breakfast options are also not bad. I stayed here for five nights, and each day. There was a variety of hot and cold food options, including fresh fruits. As far as why I am giving this hotel a one star review, the biggest factor is room cleanliness. I was very disgusted to be in my room the entire stay. It also always felt so gloomy in there because of how poor the lighting is. But even with the poor lighting, the filth in the room was very obvious. The first thing I noticed was food and drinks stains all over the large mirror and wall near the trash bin next to the dresser. It was so disgusting! This can easily be cleaned off by spraying some type of a solution and wiping it off. I have included a picture here for others to see what I’m referring to. Parts of the wall also had stains on there as well. I always sanitize surfaces when I stay in hotels and it was disgusting to see how much yucky stains I picked up on the door handles, remote control, and light switches. Clearly, these are not cleaned off in between guests. My bedsheets were also stained with something and this was also the case with some of the towels. When I first inspected the bathroom, I found tiny drops of feces near the front of the toilet and couldn’t believe that the housekeeper would miss something like this. I detail cleaned the bathroom myself since it was obvious to me this hotel has low expectations with room cleanliness. I will also add that I became terrified to sleep in my bed after I heard from one of the group members that she found bedbugs and was moved to a different room after her first night. She showed me pictures of what was found and how awful her bites were as well. This honestly wasn’t shocking to me, knowing how filthy the hotel is. Something else to keep in mind is that the rooms are smaller than the normal size rooms in DC. I would say it is the same size of a cruise ship stateroom and there is absolutely no room for anyone to open their luggage because of the room layout. For reference, I had a one king bed in my room. The other reason that this hotel should be avoided is due to safety. It is located in Chinatown and if you have been keeping up with the changes that are happening in Washington DC, this once vibrant part of the city is becoming run down with many homeless, gang members, and drug dealers on the streets. It’s safe to say that they have completely outnumbered the number of Chinese people living in this small community. The hotel is close to the metro station and this is where most of them stand and congregate. I had to take the metro multiple times and felt really nervous each time. I was also disgusted by the smell of weed and urine in this area. Many times, I have seen police officers dealing with issues by the metro. Since most homeless people are harmless, this is not the case here in this part of the city. Some of them are very aggressive when begging for money and will sometimes follow you to get your attention. I also had

Hotel was ok but had some drawbacks. The breakfast buffet hot food wasn't much better than you get at a budget place. More elevators are needed as wait times were often long. Pillows were too soft. Hot water was lukewarm. On the plus side, the staff was very helpful and the maid did a good job.

The hotel is fine. Rooms need renovations. Went for a graduation and daily rate was $400 and it’s not worth $400. Employees lack willingness to help especially the valet. I would not stay if given the opportunity.

This is such a great hotel in an amazing part of the city! Staff: I've stayed here several times for business, and every single time, Erica has been at the front desk and has taken AMAZING care of me. She is friendly, upbeat, and anticipates every need. She found out that I sometimes have to do laundry when I come, so she now pre-books me on the laundry floor. For someone who works 7 days a week, having an employee do everything they can to make your day smoother is invaluable. I also felt like a dummy one morning when I couldn't figure out the waffle maker, and a staff member did it for me, then stood by to make sure I was ok! Location: One of the best in the city. Chinatown is definitely overlooked sometimes, but the block is vibrant and bustling, and the biggest challenge is chosing one of the thousand great restaurants just blocks from the hotel. Rooms: Basic but well kept, clean, and they've got a variety of pillows. The beds are comfy, and I rarely, if ever, hear noise from the hallways...even when I am right next to an elevator. Amenities: Breakfast is decent, the Irish pub inside the hotel has surprisingly decent food (and great service), but unfortunately I never have much time to try out the fitness center or other offerings. My co-workers recommended this location, and it's now become the default for us when we're in town. Thanks, Fairfield!

Nice hotel located inside Chinatown. convenient to get to metro. Lots food around. Room is clean. Feel a little damp when I first enter and after putting on heat it's all good. Staff is really friendly. We got an inspiration speech from a breakfast morning crew (I think it's so nice and funny). He literally stood in the middle of the dining hall and made sure each one of us had what we need. Breakfast on weekend is really crazy. The dining hall is pretty small. Most ppl are willing to share tables. Everyone-fend-for-yourself kind situation

Erica, the Front Desk Associate made my two days back in DC & overnight accommodations a good one. Her & the other staff's engaging hospitality made us feel welcomed. Each time I came & went I seemed to run into Erica, who would take the moment to see if I needed anything. If no other guests were around, she'd come around from the front desk & we would chat it up as if we were old friends. A newly renovated hotel with clean rooms, plush bedding, modern furniture & workstations. Room service is available from the on-site restaurant - Irish Channel Restaurant & Pub. Complimentary Continental/Buffet Breakfast & coffee/tea on a daily basis. Amenities: +Mini Fridge+24/7 Fitness Center+Pets are welcomed with an additional fee+Valet parking (secured garage) at $52+Taxis are available from the front deskUnlimited restaurants from fast casual to fine dining, retail shopping, entertainment & sightseeing options in close proximity. The Gallery/Chinatown Metro Station is a couple blocks away with people from all walks of life out & about, so keep your head on the swivel. Great stay overall, especially from the guest experience perspective.

A great location and facility to stay. Just few minutes walk from a Metro station to access all parts of DC, valet parking with unlimited in and out, complimentary breakfast, well maintained hotel. Overall we had a wonderful time staying at this hotel. Our rooms were clean, everything worked well. The breakfast was good. We got to enjoy full Chinatown experience, walked to CityCenter and Ford Theater from the hotel. We took Metro from Gallery Pl (next to hotel) to Arlington and was able see visit National mall area without taking our car. Capital One arena is also next to the hotel where Washington's hockey and basketball teams play. Beside all the advantages, this area does have some scratchy people constantly hanging out around and near the hotel, as well as the Metro station.

Stayed here for the weekend before a week long work trip in Virginia. The staff are SO friendly, really made our whole stay. Deon is the nicest, most kind human and everyone really was welcoming and friendly. We asked for a fridge in our room and it was up less than 5 minutes later. The breakfast options are amazing and there is plenty of seating. I enjoyed the hot cocoa every morning. I have a couple gripes, but not worthy of less stars. -The king size bed fills the entire room, so it is very small with no space to lounge or walk really. -the AC unit was really loud and never really shut off. -the hotel is located in Chinatown. There was constant drumming on the streets which was really annoying. The Tv wouldn't even drown the sound out. -be vigilant. The neighborhood is ghetto and there are a lot of questionable people on the streets. -the gym is small but gets the job done. Food recommendation: walk down the street and try Daikaya. Best ramen ever.
