For the pharmacy 10/10Helpful, fast, applied a coupon saving me over $200 on my prescription. Three young black men behind the counter were knowledgeable, polite and cared. I called on a different day and spoke with a young lady who went the extra mile to try to get my vet on the phone for a question. Highly recommend.

The pharmacy assistant was very dissmissive when I called and wouldn't even check if my prescription was sent in by my doctor until I specifically asked her to twice. I also had to go to the pharmacist in person to update my health insurance.

Sketchy. Plenty of homeless folks and drunks hanging around outside. Security and theft issues mean they sometimes restrict entrance/exit to a small door. Selection is good but it's too pricey, particularly for the modest-income clientele. Their machines often do not work, and this is the kind of store where one customer with problems can back up the line. Rooftop parking is helpful but the whole experience isn't too calming.

This used to be my neighborhood grocery store and the only reason I went was because it's the only large grocery store in that part of Columbia Heights. Before you walk in the store, there are often panhandlers and canvassers, making for an unpleasant experience. The Giant itself often doesn't have items, although I will give it credit for a good selection of Latin American cheeses. The prices are on the expensive side, there are never enough cashiers, and the self-checkout is often not intuitive, requiring help. I would only go if you live in the neighborhood and need groceries.

Staff and items consistently available. Found all employees very helpful.

Employees are condescending and presumptuous. They act like gate-keepers to your health and well-being. Additionally, service is very slow and inefficient. Would recommend a different pharmacy.

GIANT SUCKS now! They're hot food bar in Columbia Heights is CRAP. And the one on 7th Street that USED to have some good stuff has SHUT DOWN with the assinine excuse of the "pandemic" BS even though ALL OTHER locations' are OPEN! They also practice ANTI-consumer TARGETING by NOT carrying favorite brands. When they found out l like PORK hotdogs, they STOPPED selling them. When they found out I like Campbell's Chunky Roadhouse Chili, they STOPPED selling it. Only a LITTLE better than Safeway.

A nice store. But they may be using facial recognition to harass certain people!!! That would be those black cameras where you can even see yourself on the screens. Who are the groups that own and manage that program? They must be put out of business as its used as a terrorist tool!!!

Prices were noticeably higher, significantly higher! Seems like needles price gouging! Pharmacy folks were great.

I love the self-serve wing bar with mac and cheese! First time here so maybe the selections vary, but I love Giant honey wings and it is great to be able to get whatever quantity you want. You can also get them prepackaged because the wing bar is only open midday and dinner time. The self serve containers are awful. They don't close tight and probably would not survive a bus ride. They need better quality self serve containers. They don't have tables but there are benches outside so you can eat the hot food before you leave. They have utensils. They also have self-serve soup, which lots of supermarkets have discontinued. Their cheese selection is fantastic, comparable to Whole Foods. For some reason this store does not sell 3 way light bulbs. Lots of other light bulbs but not 3-ways. Also cat food is practically nonexistent. I know there are supply chain issues but the entire cat food section is completely empty. I don't know how cats are surviving. Dog food seems OK. The store has interesting moving walls in electrical and office supplies so there are multiple layers of small things that are not on shelves. It's an interesting space-saving concept. The store is bigger than other supermarkets in the area.

We are in January 21, 2022. I came in the store with WIC check to shop. I am not used to shopping with WIC check, so it took me some quite time to to look for the products that I wanted. On my way to check out, I was asked to go back and change some of the products which do not fully correspond to the description on the WIC check that I had. I came back to the cashier to complete my check out. There was a line on which was an elderly white lady. Even though, another cahier opened to help them check out, she refused to move there and remained alone online. Suddenly she began to curse me out , saying all kind of things on me. she said I must be a thief or I must have been in jail. I had never met her before, she had never known me before. In my frustration and anger, I held myself calm, due to the respect and consideration I have to elderly people. For any reason I cannot disrespect my Mum. Consequently, I could not say anything to that lady regarding her age. And she kept on... But what shocked me most is that the Store Manager ( or the Assistant) , and some Supervisors were around, when she was cursing me out. No body said something! Even the Manager was going back and forth around, without saying a word ! I think his attitude seems to confirm that the lady was right to curse me in the store. The lady then gained more power following me outside, harassing me, persecuting me endlessly until my ride arrived. I will not end this review without mentioning one Supervisor and the cashier who rang me up. They were exceptional. They were patient with me. Though I did not explain it to them, they seemed to know that I am New using the WIC check. They were helpful. Here is my last word with this adage: Do not judge a book by its cover. The content might not be what we thought. I am not evil doer and evil has no color. Unfortunately the Store Manager and some Supervisors bought into what I went through, by their silence. I think all customer must feel helped, important and welcomed, no matter who they are. A 1000 customers - 1 is not a gain, but rather a lost. With all due respect to everyone , I thank you! Ahanou

The people behind the pharmacy are nice, but my experience there recently was terrible.I called on 2 separate occasions to fill my prescription, only to arrive and them tell me its not actually in stock. When I asked why, the pharmacist launched into a 5 minute spiel with wayyyyy too much detail about all these niche processes that go on between pharmacies and drug suppliers, and I had to continually ask him to please explain in a simpler way because I am NOT a pharmacist, and don't understand what he meant. He took offense to this, and responded rather curtly. Sir, just like a doctor talking to a patient, your job is to translate what you know into a way that I, an ordinary person not working in the medical field, can understand, not overwhelm me with details. On the 3rd occasion, I called beforehand to ask if my prescription was ready, to which they said it would be in 30 minutes. I waited an hour, and then went to go pick it up. It was not ready yet, and I had to wait on it to be fulfilled. Of course they didn't tell me this, they just went back behind the counter and filled it for several minutes without telling me anything. The cherry on top though was as I was waiting on it to be fulfilled, I saw them physically throw my prescription bottle of pills back and forth to each other. Normally I really wouldn't care, but this was the straw that broke the camel's back that showed me they were careless and didn't really have the customer/patient's interests at the forefront. Tossing a patients pill bottle 10 ft away from each other in front of them? Bad form, and I would absolutely have switched pharmacies at this point if they weren't literally a block away from my apartment. Do not recommend.

This Giant was in route to a local Malaysian restaurant and within a few minutes from a metro station. It is clean, organized and the staff is pleasant. One thing in particular that I loved about this location was the amount of self checkout registers. There is a local Giant near my place that doesn't have any self checkout, so when you find one that does, it's such a major benefit! I'd say there's approximately 10 and this is very useful on busy days. I'd go again if I'm in the area and need some groceries. -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT
