There’s a Dude with a gun in the front door He’s checking backpacks when you come in and when you come out this is totally bullshit You feel uncomfortable and upset.

The new backpack policy is short-sighted and, frankly, discriminatory. Sadly, I'm making plans to heavily reduce my reliance on this store and take my business elsewhere.

They answer your questions without attitude. And the store is surprisingly very clean.

Stopped shopping here since the bag ban, but I went back the other day for a gallon of milk. Big mistake. It went bad two days before the 'sell by' date. Also very disappointed to see the new "minor policy" signs, that's going to make life harder for teens who help their families with chores like grocery shopping. The one part of this store I will still use is the pharmacy because the pharmacy staff are amazing, but it's not worth buying food there anymore.

I’ve been a longtime patron of the store but the new policy forbidding backpacks and personal bags is ridiculous and unworkable. Like many many people in the city, I walk or bike to the store and use a backpack or other large bag to bring my food home - this is no longer allowed, apparently. There’s also no secure location to store a bag while you shop. I’d prefer to shop at Giant, but given this policy I’ll have to shop elsewhere.
EDIT: Giant keeps making changes to the policy to make it even WORSE…they’ll be closing locations in DC within a year because these policies make it so unpleasant to shop there, mark my words.

I’ve been a customer at this Giant for the past 15 years, but my most recent experience has left me wanting never to return. While making use of the self check, the attendant came up behind me, and without speaking snatched the items I intended to purchase out of the bag and check to see if them item was the same item on the register. She, then, remove one of othe items I had just ran through the check out. She picked up that item, saw that it was the item and the price that I ran through the checkout. She literally slammed the item into the bag then walked away - still without speak. I called and complained to store management. I believe that Giant is derelict by continuing to employ this person. I am afraid it’s her or me.

The new policy that forbids customers to bring their bags inside is completely unreasonable, impractical, anachronistic. There are many solutions to reduce or prevent theft that don’t require customers leaving their belongings unattended. What’s next? Asking customers to leave their clothes outside? After having been a customer for 10 years, I started shopping elsewhere.

Not clean. Will never purchase meat here again. I’ve had multiple experiences of the meat being spoiled with an extremely foul odor when opening on the same day of purchase far ahead of the use by date. Staff is always helpful with refunds but it makes me question food handling and refrigeration protocol. Should be inspected by the health department. Bag policy is also discriminatory.

our days ago, I visited this store early in the morning, carrying a small backpack. Upon entering, the security guard informed me that store policy required customers to leave their bags at the entrance. Since they didn’t have a locker or anything to secure the bag, I asked the security guard if he would watch it. He assured me, "Yes, don’t worry. I will watch it." I complied and left my bag where he indicated (all this is recorded on their security camera!).
When I returned, my bag was missing. I asked the security guard about it, and he said he didn't know who took it and mentioned he had placed it behind the cash register. Later, he told the police he lost sight of it while trying to prevent an ongoing theft. I approached the store manager for assistance, but she was unhelpful, rude, and disrespectful. She refused to provide me with her supervisor’s contact information, insisting she was the only manager.
I called the police to file a report and then went home. After two days, I went back to the store and tried to talk to the store manager again, but this time she denied everything and even tried to blame me for leaving my bag. She was again rude, unhelpful, and disrespectful, to say the least. I was mad and angry. Now I have filed a complaint with the district manager and am waiting for their response.
Be cautious when visiting this store, especially if you're carrying a bag. Do not leave it at the entrance, as they might steal it and deny any responsibility!!!!!!!

This review is purely for Giant pick up. I use my bicycle to run most of my errands, and because of the idiotic no bags inside policy, I solely use giant for pick up orders since moving to the neighborhood a couple months ago. Claire has done most of my shopping for pick up orders and does an excellent job. The workers are always timely and friendly. Produce has been fresh and I don't get any banged up or expired products here. I've done giant pick up at the H St NE and Brentwood stores as well, and this location is the best and most consistent service out of the three. Thanks Claire! My only complaint is that giant should make it easier to leave reviews on the app since employees rely on these, but they only give you the option to report issues, not positive feedback, online.
