Friendly staff and good equipment.UPDATE:Downgrading my earlier review because of this gym’s deceptive billing practices. I was moving out of state and asked the front desk twice when I should cancel to avoid being charged after I left. They told me both times to cancel on a specific future date, which I did. Then I got billed for the next month and they said it takes 30 days for my cancellation to process. Why did their front desk tell me to wait to cancel knowing I’d be charged for longer than I needed? I emailed the manager about this and she basically told me it’s their policy.I highly recommend people read the other reviews here. I didn’t until now and I am shocked by how many people have been impacted by this gym’s billing practices.@Gold’s Gym at Van Ness, y’all have a good gym and location why go and ruin it by treating people this way? There are multiple other gyms within a few minutes drive from your facility. You risk pushing your clientele to your competition.

This gym is great! All of the staff members are super friendly and welcoming. The layout of the workout areas are also a plus. It is convenient to have the majority of the weights downstairs and all of the cardio upstairs. Going after work on a weekday you'd think it'd be super crowded, but there are always lockers available and equipment to use. I hope to stay around this area when moving just to keep going to this gym.

I have been trying to get my membership canceled but have no response from the gym managment Overall the gym is not bad. I enjoyed one of the classes. However, when I discovered that they had not honored the First Month Free offer and tried to get it fixed I have been ignored. I decided to cancel, but cannot get a response to those messages either.Unfortunately, it seems they get you with contract language -- that you can cancel due to 'death, illness, injury, or change of address', then you still need to send a certified letter and doctors note if its illness or injury. I was told that I could cancel with no charges within 15 days and anytime after that. You really. need to read the fine print, which I didn't.I wish I would have listened to these reviews.I gave it two stars bc I have gotten good service from the front desk staff-- but silence from management.and if you do decide to join, I recommend the BodyFlow class with Elizabeth. She's great!

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! Been trying to cancel my membership for 3 years. Keep getting credit threats and both this location and ABC are refusing to cancel my membership (haven't been in 3 years). They make it impossible to cancel or they threatened to ruin your credit. Do yourself a favor and go to a different brand that is more organized. I wish I could give them zero stars. I deserve a refund for all the headaches and stress this has caused me. This gym is a huge scam. Oh and good luck getting in touch with a manager..

My husband and I have been dealing with a billing issue with Gold's Gym DC Metro for several months. When the Reston gym closed in May and was supposed to open in its new location in June, I put my membership and personal training on hold. It is now September, and the new gym is not open yet. Even though I put my personal training on hold while waiting for the new location to open, Gold's Gym billed me for the time the Reston location was closed - services I didn't receive. To make matters worse, they submitted my account to their collection agency (Aldous & Associates). It took multiple phone calls, emails, and a personal visit to the Chantilly gym to get it resolved. It is now supposedly resolved, but I am confident I will get another email from the collection agency. RUN away from this place. Don't sign up for anything. This has been such a nightmare for me!

I have been dealing with a billing issue with Gold's Gym DC Metro for several months. As you can see from the majority of the reviews here, they are very quick to sign you up for membership and training sessions, but they want to continue billing you even after you cancel. I was attending the Reston location, and the gym closed in May and was supposed to open in its new location in June. It is now September 22, and the new gym is NOT open yet. Even though I put my membership on hold while waiting for the new location to open, Gold's Gym billed me for the time the Reston location was closed. When I spoke with them, they said they would resolve this, but instead, they submitted my account to their collection agency (Aldous & Associates). This was in spite of the fact that I paid them for the time that I wasn't able to attend the gym.RUN away from this place. Don't sign up for anything.Gold's Gym DC Metro includes 20 gyms throughout Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland, which includes Falls Church, VA · Fairfax, VA · Arlington, VA · Alexandria, VA · Merrifield, VA · Riverdale, MD · Chantilly, VA · Reston, VA · Frederick, MD · Rockville, MD

This gym has charged me over $450 in personal training fees that I did not sign up for and have not responded to my calls or emails requesting a refund. I used to love coming to this gym, but everyone I talk to has agreed that the management is seriously disorganized and not helpful. I've tried time and time again to get this issue resolved and they are ignoring me. Do not sign up for a membership here if you are looking for timely and helpful customer service.

Not sure where the membership fee is going, but it's definitely not being reinvested into the gym. Worn out, dirty equipment. Cramped and small spaces. Only two squat racks (???). There's always someone trying to clean the workout areas while they're in use, which is pointless. Thankfully, I tried the free trial before making the mistake to buy a membership - lowest plan is $60 a month, but that's not including their annual fee, and the fact that when you enroll, you'll pay for the previous month as well, and there's a multitude of bad reviews here about unauthorized charges, so beware. You'll be better off looking elsewhere.

For the price alone, this place/Golds Gym metro DC is unbeatable, especially if you’re looking for a place where you can do a self-directed workout. Moreover, the management and staff make it GREAT: Lauren is extremely responsive (when omicron happened, he let me pause my account for 3 months with no charge), and the entire front desk is super friendly and makes you feel at home when you come in. Significantly cheaper than a lot of other area gyms with the same equipment (and a sauna!); plus, you can go to any location in the DMV. There are the same issues you’d find at any gym (I.e., the occasional wait for equipment, some guys deciding they need to use 2 sets of dumbbells for a superset), but all in all I’d highly recommend.

After further discussing with Gold's customer service, they are not crediting the last two charges of personal training because they say I never officially asked to cancel. I let them know I have emails back from November asking to stop these charges and I verbally discussed this with several team members at Gold's as well. They continue to dispute this (somehow), and I've let them know that I will be challenging the charges through my bank at this point. Just know if you consider going to this gym, nothing you tell anyone in person matters and you should get everything in writing by email (and you will not get a response to many emails so you will need to follow up so even this isn't always valid).

I'm giving a one star review because this location has failed to provide me a refund of over $500 after multiple charges for personal training sessions that I did not authorize. I've been emailing with the manager for almost a month who said he is working on the refund, has cancelled my membership, yet I keep being charged for more personal training sessions and membership fees. I called this past week and spoke w/ another employee who apologized and agreed they are working on it, but literally after this call, another charge was charged to my account. I understand that refunds take time, but some of these new charges are in the hundreds and were far after the date when the staff confirmed cancellation of membership. I'm not sure if this is a location issue or just a Gold's national issue, but I want to warn everyone to not enroll in personal training sessions at this location because you may never be able to stop the automatic charges of $296.80.It is too bad, because other than this, the location is nice, the gym is newly renovated, and the staff is nice. But I still maintain a one star review until these charges are resolved, refunded, and stopped because it is now over 3 weeks and no one should have their credit card charged hundreds of dollars for services that they have cancelled weeks ago.

Good gym for the price. They've been adding more equipment which is nice, but it seems heavily lopsided to what equipment people actually use. While it's good to see them adding more stuff, it might be nice if they got rid of some of the less popular equipment so it isn't so cluttered. Biggest complaint is that I can't change the sauna temperature, and it's stuck pretty low.

I just wanted to alert everyone who is planning to sign up for a month-to-month "no contract" plan. I have made this mistake because I scanned to the small prints before signing up, and ended up paying several fees, including an annual fee (although it says "month-to-month")- very disappointing!
