I left H&R Block thinking I owed over $6K in taxes. I just filed with TurboTax, and I only owed $1200.
I booked an appointment online two weeks in advance and when I arrived there was no evidence of my appointment in the system. I am a contractor and the women who helped me did not ask me for ANY deductions such as, "Did you pay rent in DC?", or "Did you buy anything for your business?". After looking at my forms she told me I would owe a lot. I left before filing due to "Missing Documents" that it turns out I didn't even need. When scheduling a follow-up appointment I was told she only works on Saturdays.
DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR TAXES!!

Do not go here. I made an appointment on the 2nd of April 2023 for an in person visit for the 5th of April only to get a call on the 4th saying that the tax rep was not coming in. No replacement was found and I was made to do an online drop off. They end up sending my documents to another H&R block on Columbia Heights. Wasted my time and sent me another location that DID NOT FILE MY TAXES. I had to scramble to file my taxes on my own because it was the 18th of April at 9 pm and I had no sign that my taxes had been filed. Horrible place, horrible company. Do not waste your time here, TurboTax all the way.

Would not recommend this location. Arrived on time for my appointment at 2PM. Was not seen until ~2:15P. About 30 minutes into my appt some lady came in for her schedule appt which was after mine. Instead of having her wait until I was done. They dropped what they were doing, and helped her instead. Was not asked if it was ok with me, nor given a chance to come back another time. In total, I was there for 2.5hours when I was expecting 30 minutes to an hour. The person helping me was named Carmen, and I would not recommend having her do your taxes.

When there was an opening they texted me to invite me to come in right away and therefore I was able to have my taxes done the same day, even though I was a walk-in. The

I had an unbelievably poor experience here. After I paid them, they declined my return, never filed it (they actually deleted it) and they stopped responding to me. Occasionally I would get through on the phone and they would tell me they were with a client and they'd pay me back. I paid $400 to them on April 9th and they never responded to me again. I had to go all the way to North Carolina to work with a different HR Block branch to start from scratch, I just finished today on May 12th.UPDATE:I notice they've left a boilerplate response to this. I called that number well over a dozen times trying to resolve this and usually they just hung up on me or said they'd call back and never did. They know my number and if they want to resolve this as they claim they can refund the money I paid them and apologize for what they did instead of just apologizing that I didn't have a positive experience. I was filing my taxes so there was never any chance of having a positive experience.

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! I came in today for an appointment and the older woman I had an appointment with didn’t have on a mask it was only one other person there. This place is unprofessional and clearly doesn’t follow COVID safety protocol. I left immediately this location needs to close down.
