I often travel to the District for day/night music shows. Shows end after the last Amtrak trains run. Next departure is 0500. Until recently, McDonald's stayed open all night. Now, Union Station is completely closed at 2300. No food places open. There are no convenience stores in Capitol Hill. No vending machines inside. Sucks.

The architecture is nice, but it's full of crackheads begging for change and buying said crack in the hallways. Even by DC standards, it's pretty dire.

The last time I was through this station (pre-covid) it was full of shops and restaurants. The food court had plenty of options and it was a place to relax before boarding a train or getting out into DC. This recent trip was disappointing because most of the shops and restaurants are closed, the food court only had standard “every town has 20 of them” low quality fast food at inflated prices. I got asked for a handout 3 times in the food court and the “security” didn’t seem at all concerned with the vagrants wandering around pestering the travelers. I understand that it's a train station and anything beyond that; such as retail and food is a bonus, but it’s just sad to see how far it's fallen from what it used to be.

It is 100% safe. I travelled to board a 3am train and didn’t find any homeless person or security issues around it. A lot of people were arriving thru Uber/Lyft so it was extremely crowded plus now the security is only allowing people who have ticket inside. As a woman travelling alone, it was safe.

I HATE IT HERE. THEY'RE EVIL. THERE'S MICE RUNNING AROUND DOWNSTAIRS. THEY TREAT PEOPLE LIKE INMATES FROM JAIL. THEY DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE TIRED THEY DON'T LET YOU SIT ANYWHERE. THE SECURITY GUARDS ARE EVIL THEY WILL ARREST YOU FOR NO REASON THEY MAKE A BIG DEAL OUT OF SOMETHING SMALL. THE FOOD IS POISONED IT HAS DRUGS IN IT. DON'T GO HERE IF YOU DO TAKE THE TRAIN AND LEAVE FAST. THE LUGGAGE DEPARTMENT BE CAREFUL WITH THEM THERE'S SOMETHING ILLEGAL GOING ON.

Poor or nonexistent signage--many of us passengers ended up queuing in the wrong lane for a while--and NO wall outlets for charging your electronic devices except inside a couple of restaurants. Belligerent homeless people roaming inside the station whom security ignored. Only one small restroom per gender on each floor. Only redeeming quality was that the women's restroom on the ground floor was decently maintained.

Washington Union Station is a restored historic architecture centre, mixed-use of transportation hub, leisure and shopping center located few minutes from the US Capitol so when you exit the station the view of US Capitol building will be in front of you. The station design is very unique but some areas looked old. There is lack of signs across the station so I had to walk across the station to find my way. Also it is a bit strange that there is no informarion desk for Big Bus Sightseeing inside the station so had to walk in the streets to ask security guards about the location which took me 30 minutes to find it.

Washington union station had Beautiful architecture but show signs of age. I was so amazed this place was. Generally the station was clean and well kept. There’s also a few places to shop and food court around, but most were closed.

Horrible! It's like they don't have anyone working there. I have been trying to communicate with them via email and phone and NO ONE IS EVER AVAILABLE! I've been needing information about their meal voucher program, but the online instructions are outdated and their online form is useless. Not to mention the homeless population has gotten out of hand, and its not worth anyone's time to come here anymore.

Security doesn't do anything to prevent homeless people from coming into the waiting area for the trains. You are supposed to have a ticket to be here but it's not enforced at all. As a result homeless people can be heard yelling around the McDonalds during early and late hours trying to get every person who goes to buy them something or give them their change. You also have homeless people dancing in the sitting area talking to themselves. If you have kids, stay away during dark hours. They don't take security seriously here.

Beautiful architecture but thr station is showing signs of age, the washrooms were not very clean and had taps leaking. Generally the station was clean and well kept. Some of the employees were very helpful. The only thing that could be a bit better would be sign to navigate within the station (it might be easy for a daily user but for a tourist, some signboards it will be helpful)

This classic train station is showing its age. But it is still very functional and easy to get around in. You can get to your gate and track quickly. Plus in the food court there are many choices to eat, provide you get there before 6 pm.
