To come to The Georgetown ER is an absolute joke I am actually sitting in the waiting room now since 1140am. It is now 740pm I have yet to see a Nurse or a Dr My pain out of 10 has consistently been around a 12 8hrs of waiting If you have the choice of Georgetown or anywhere else...Even if its further away...Go to any other place They have no sense of urgency....None... Their rating is a 1.8......1.8 for Healthcare providers This is actually patient abuse

I'm writing this feedback while in the process of miscarriage. I went to the ER room on Jan 4th at approx 12:30 am after my water broke at 14W gestation, followed by massive amount of bleeding. By the time I checked in at the ER, I had mild contraction. They immediately took me to the triage to check my vitals and running some questions. Later the nurse told me to wait in the waiting room. I waited for 2 hrs (in the waiting room) and had to ask another nurse at the triage (my husband literally had to knock the room, and she only open the door after the security went inside to inform her about my urgency- thank you sir). Then I waited for another hour until they call me to another triage for blood draw, which was the worst experience ever and made me scream in agony! I told her that I have small veins but she just poked the needle, and of course my blood drips everywhere! She seemed sympathetic, however, acknowledging the urgency that I need to seen by the PA/ doc immediately. However, she sent me back to the waiting room. I continue to gushed a mix blood and water, and even passed some clots during the urine sampling. I informed this to another nurse, and told her that loosing a significant amount of amniotic fluid can be very dangerous not only to the baby but also myself. She said she is waiting for my blood test and will inform her PA. As I'm writing this feedback, I'm still waiting in the waiting room without clarity when the doc will see me. It's 5 AM now - and I've been here since 12:30 AM while my water broke and I'm losing a significant amount of blood. Yet, they still haven't admitted me. Now you tell me if this is not a serious life threatening condition. We're talking about lives here - me and my baby. Update: 5:30 AM wE approached a guy, who seemed to be a resident nurse. We begged him to see the PA, and he asked if I had the blood test and he said," THATS THE BEST THING WE CAN DO." seriously??? I had to explain him that the amniotic fluid is gushing though my thingy right now along with some clots! And his response was ," ok I will tell them that." Then he disappeared behind the door. Spoke with another residency nurse, and asked her to "press the urgency" of my case and hers response was," All ER in DC are busy right now and we don't really have any place inside. You can go to another hospital if you'd like." WOW again this is a serious life threatening condition and this is how they treated their patients??! Moral of the story: don't come here unless you're a Kennedy!

I visited the emergency room at this hospital, and I experienced an incredibly frustrating situation. I had to wait for seven hours just to see the doctor, which I found both unbelievable and unacceptable. This hospital is renowned as one of the best in the US, but the excessively long waiting time in the ER doesn't align with that reputation. What added to my frustration was the lack of information about how much longer I might have to wait. During this time, the medical staff only seemed to check my blood pressure, and there was no other significant examination or communication about my condition.

I'm at the Emergency Room, and have been waiting for more than 8 hours. I've overheard patients saying they've been waiting for much longer. After waiting for hours, some patients have opted to leave and go elsewhere, having wasted all that time without any care. One patient got so frustrated that he got into a verbal altercation with staff, that almost became physical. Very scary situation. The staff ordered him to leave, while he still had an open IV line connected to him. As the fight was unfolding, the nursing staff involved in the altercation removed the IV line while they were both standing at the check-in desk and the patient started dripping blood all over. Staff told him to leave. I still haven't seen a physician, while my symptoms are getting worse. What good is having a newly inaugurated ER if there's no sense of urgency, let alone emergency in processing patients. Not sure if this is the case at other area hospitals, but this is far from quality care.

RECEIVED ONE STAR BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO GIVE SOMETHING TO POST THE REVIEW OTHERWISE YOU WOULD HAVE RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING JUST LIKE WE RECEIVED NOTHING Walked out, set next to a cancer patient in the waiting room who was in excruciating pain and crying. After 4 hours of sitting in the waiting area we left without receiving any care. NEVER EVER again will seek medical attention there. Shame on them for operating that why. Extremely poor service to their community.

The parking is the absolute worst. Medical care is great but the parking is so bad, it drags the entire rating down.

So, it's a wonderful hospital. The issue is the staff! The transporters don't know how to talk to each other. When they are training the new employees. And, you wound think the head person in charge would know this right. Not at all! Then, MedStar in general always posting that their " HIRING " . When in reality that's not true either. Instead of taking those that are mostly qualified & willing to do the job. They don't! Nobody is willing to put forth effort to train/ go over what needs to be done anymore. A bunch of people put in applications and all they receive back is generated emails telling them that they don't qualify for the job. And, tell your staff to stop being nasty when responding to people. It's called "Customer Service" for a reason.

Why did I come here? What a nightmare. Been in the ER for seven hours. Have yet to see a triage nurse to ask what's wrong with me. I just cant believe this is a hospital... Should have listened to my gut and gone to Sibley. The RN poked me to take blood, and blood went everywhere. Stained my clothes and the nurse had the odasity to ask if I had Hydrogen Peroxide at home, that it would clean the blood off my clothes. . . An audit needs to happen here. This is unacceptable health care.

I had the worst experience in my life there. I had an elective colonoscopy in the GI lab. The procedure was done by a trainee-- very nice, but perhaps not the most delicate technique. One hour after procedure, I had the worst abdominal pain in my life with nausea and vomiting. The instructions said to return to the GU emergency department in case of severe pain. That is when things went downhill. The triage nurse marked my case as non-urgent. This meant that sicker patients (in their view) go in front of me. After EIGHT HOURS of waiting in pain and vomiting I bailed and went to another hospital. They identified the problem immediately with labs and a CT scan. They reassured me that I did not have a bowel perforation, which could have been fatal. DONT GO TO GU emergency room!!

Poor communication with family and friends who will be responsible for taking care of patients after they've been discharged. Neither my roommate's sisters nor I knew that the window of opportunity for my roommate starting on chemotherapy or the benefits of the surgery she underwent would be negated was only a few weeks, so we didn't pressure her to get started as hard as we would have had we known. On the other hand, during her initial visit I received a phone call telling me that I had to come to the hospital immediately to sign off on giving her a blood transfusion (which under D.C. law I was empowered to do) or she would die, but she resisted so they didn't give it to her and she was healthy enough to be discharged 5 days later.

Over 5 hours wait and one of the staff actually commented saying that was nothing. This used to be a real emergency room before it was run by MedStar. Now it's understaffed, the wait area is horrible, and the staff behave as if such wait times are normal. I ended up leaving.

Needed to go to the ER and I could not have been more impressed with the entire experience. Within a few minutes of walking in I was getting my vitals taken and granted it wasn't busy, but I was admitted quickly after that. The entire staff was so professional and friendly and I want to especially thank Doctor Bowen Z. and Nurse Mary G., they were amazing! No one likes going to the hospital but they made it into such a great experience!

So far, my breast cancer care team has been wonderful. However, it's Georgetown University Hospital. And anyone who's lived in DC long enough knows that this is a place to avoid. Ever wonder what and where the Seventh Circle of Hell is? Wonder no more! It's at Georgetown University Hospital, starting at the entrance at Reservoir Road. The traffic circle that sits amidst a mish mash of buildings crammed together like the dystopian set of Blade Runner is like something out of Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttiegied's, worst traffic nightmare. It's a constant stream of traffic circling thru without any apparent destination. When one clearly desperate driver attempted to stop in the circle to drop off her elderly, and clearly incapacitated passenger, the security guard went ballistic and yelled, "Do NOT stop in this circle to drop him off! You are NOT dropping anyone off in this circle!". She started yelling back at the guard. Then the guard stood in front of her vehicle like he was daring her to run him down. Then she got out and opened the passenger door. You could hear the onlookers gasp. Was there going to be a physical confrontation? Luckily, another security staffer stepped in to defuse the situation and they coaxed her back into the car. Phew. Crisis averted. Now, this is the same place where 5 people were accidentally mowed down in the parking garage and killed about 2 weeks ago. All I'm saying is, whoever is responsible for designing this transportation hellscape, and whoever is allowing it to continue, should be put in front of a firing squad. Do not drive to Georgetown University Hospital! Take a cab, Uber, Lyft, ride from a friend, walk! Avoid bringing your own car to GUH at all costs.

The 1 star is for the wonderful nurses I had at each shift. That's how long I have been here. I drove from waldorf md here I have several specialty Doctors here. I arrived here 12 noon on August 21st 2023. It is now 4:27am on August 22nd. I have been discharged and I am in the waiting area trying to wake up from being to sleepy to drive myself home, which is an hour away and I am a senior. Every test that was performed I had to ask for. I am so disappointed at my lack of care from the doctor who treated me
