Monarch Paints is full service paint store for both the professional and homeowner. They can easily provide hundreds of gallons for a commercial job as well as paint samples for your home project. A design center is attached, which offers consultations as well as a full selection of window treatments. Conveniently located next to Magruders with plenty of free parking which is a real plus in DC.

I had the worst experience with this store.Bought the fine paint of Europe and it was very clumsy, call the store they said bring it back I go there and the guy start screaming at me accusing me of trying to get a free paint and I had never had someone talked to me this way so I said forget it but will never buy again he said better and shouting at me. They called me on the phone trying to say sorry. I said I was there no one said sorry. Because I told them I will post it. Don’t go there go anywhere else but trust me the rudeness and the mean attitude is understandable basically they humiliate me.DONT GO THERE BY THE WAY I SPEND OVER $10,000 At this store between window coverings and paint and this is the way they treat me.

This is a long overdue acknowledgement of the outstanding support I received from Ms. Lana, Ms. Sonya, and Ms. Nicole over the past year. My house in DC was undergoing a full renovation and I needed paint color advice from the outside of the house (the cornice, the window trims, door) to the inside of the house. I have been in many other paint stores (i.e. Sherwyn Williams, Home depot, McCormick Paints, etc) prior to setting foot at the Monarch Paint & Design Center in Chevy Chase but never received this level of customer service and dedication from any staff member. As I shared the photos of my house and my desired style, Nicole, Lana and Sonya were always very helpful in selecting a few color options to give the modern vibe yet maintaining the authenticity of the Victorian row house. They did not overwhelm me with too many options, just enough so I can make the right selection. The house turned out beautifully and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without their expertise and knowledge. I learned so much from them!I am an extremely happy customer, and highly recommend Monarch to anyone going through a paint project.

We are a roofing sheet metal company (PJ McTavish & Co) and for many years have been patronizing this paint store.I called in my order and everything was ready when I arrived 30 minutes later.Even through the height of the virus pandemic, they were great.Good store, pleasant people, very helpful.

Christian is the best!! After contacting 4 other stores and being told the base for the color I wanted wasn’t available, he was able to use the base that was available to get me the color I wanted. Great customer service!

Waited for 10 minutes or so before someone in the store asked if I needed some help. One person at the counter helping someone for some time. Another employee was throwing/slamming boxes of paint on the counter, visibly upset that he had to work. Cursing and using other derogatory terms about another employee(?). Clearly didn't care about customers in the store and perhaps thought everyone was a contractor? Realize it's tough to get good help these days but I will likely take my business elsewhere after this experience, very disappointed. Historically have had better service and more knowledgeable employees. 9/22/21, ~2:30pm.

I picked up paint for my contractor to freshen the exterior of my historic home and wrought-iron fence. Thankfully I noticed the extensive color dye splashed all around the rim of the cans for the home's exterior. Yet, when I asked for the paint to be re-prepared, I was treated as if I was at fault for the shoddy mixing job. Who I presume to be the manager of the paint department, a Latin man, belittled the individual who mixed the paint in front of me. Mistakes happen. It was totally unnecessary to act that way. I wish I had opened the fence paint too while in the store because after the contractor completed the job, my historically black wrought-iron fence is now charcoal gray. I've eaten that cost as it was not my contractor's fault. I am a huge supporter of local, small businesses, but not if the experience is rubbish. I'll be back for the kind ladies at the design center, but I echo another reviewer, Strosneiders for paint.

Monarch Paint is the best paint shop around. Christian at the Connecticut Avenue location was knowledgeable, patient and super helpful. He took great care of every customer on a really busy day. Thanks Christian, keep up the good work.

My partner and I decided to paint a couple of rooms in our neely purchased home. When I came into the store, there were about three other customers being waited on already, or simply waiting for their paint to be formulated. But it didnt take long for the friendly guy behind the counter to ask me what I needed. I was stuck on the actual sheen type, that is the difference between pearl and eggshell finish. He explained that the pearl would turn out to be sonewhat more shiney than eggshell. That was something that we did not want so I stuck with the eggshell type. We already had two colors in mibd and we ordered two gallons of each. It took him about seven minutes to mix the cokors and shake the paint to perfection. I thought that was pretty darn fast! Now comes the fun part where we get to make a big mess of the walls and ourselves!

I ordered Hunter Douglas shades from Monarch. They were installed incorrectly - they are not level, don't close all the way - tons of problems. I have been chasing Monarch paint since August 2021 to come repair them.No response - If you call the design center, no one answers and there is no answering service. They don't respond to emails. These shades look horrible and were a complete waste of money. I can deal with things not being installed correctly - if the vendor fixes the issue. The fact they were installed incorrectly and the vendor is AVOIDING the issue is what makes this so troubling. If you want any level of service whatsoever, stay away from Monarch paint!

I was very pleased with the assistance of the designers; one came to our house to help with selections. I purchased a variety of paints for different rooms. They also helped with wallpaper selection which I also purchased there and just love.

New to Wakefield and ready to remodel. I hate the experience I had at this shop. I cane for samples and advice (it's my first time painting ANYTHING) I got to the store about 20 mins after opening. Early bird get the shitty service apparently. He was nice.... But not very informative. I'm an advocate for 420 but please smoke a sativa before you come to work where you have to share base information. He asked me "how could I help" and I gave him the name of the 2 colors I needed sampled for. Another guy asked if I hd been helped so I said yes. The first guy the asks me "was he able to get the samples for you" I replied "no, I gave you the info so I assumed I was already being helped". I had to keep saying IM HERE FOR SAMPLES AND IVE NEVER PAINTED ANYTHING SO ANY ADVICE WOULD BE CERTAINLY HELPFUL" I said this over 8 times in the 20 mins I was in the shop. Im annoyed and I'm going to ACE by the target. My dog is welcome and I also need pots for my houseplants. Owners, feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I'll be more than pleased to discuss my displeasure.
