Absolutely fantastic experience at the location at 235 Penn. such great service. And the manager (Gwen I believe?) was just lovely, kind, and amazing. The medical system in the US is tricky so it’s so refreshing to have an experience like this. Highly recommend with no reservations.

Anjela treated my friend and me with dignity, respect, and kindness. She took the time to educate us on how the glasses are made and why getting them custom fit is important for the prescription. They are very busy with exams booked all day so it’s important to be on time, no room for walkins or late patients. Can be pricey but they try to help when they can.

I would rate MyEyeDr zero stars if I could. All of my experiences with them have been terrible regardless of their office location in DC. My last visit was at this location, and there wasn't a single part of the visit that went well. When I arrived, they sent me to the back employee break area and told me to use the bathroom there to wash my hands which was super weird to begin with. Once I removed my contacts, I had to come back out to the lobby (and at this point I literally can't see anything) and was directed to go sit and wait for my doctor in the lobby. After about 10 minutes of waiting, someone came and informed me my doctor had to leave due to an emergency and that I could wait but they could not give me any indication as to when she would be back (could be 5 mins, could be 2 hours who knows). Ended up waiting over an hour because I already took off work to come to this. First, I was sent to get testing done by an extremely unfriendly employee who was in the middle of eating a bag of Doritos when I walked in, then proceeded to touch all of the equipment I was placing my eyes to with his cheesy fingers. The actual exam was about 1 minute long, all I needed was a renewal on my prescription.Hoping at this point I can check out and get out of this hell hole I've been stuck at for over an hour, I am then seated at a desk where one of their employees begins to harass me about purchasing contacts from them. After refusing several times and explaining that I prefer to purchase my contacts elsewhere, she tells me there is some hidden allowance in my contact exam that would cover one box. I confirm several times that this IS NOT the $150 benefit I get yearly to purchase contacts, which she confirms multiple times. Fast forward a few months, I call my insurance company to confirm I still have that allowance and they inform me it was used back on the day I was at the MyEyeDr. So she just lied to my face to make a sale. I will never again step foot in any MyEyeDr store and I wouldn't recommend you do either unless you like working with pushy sales people and scam artists (and no one who seems to actually care about your eye health).

My first appointment did not happen because their scheduler said that I did not confirm myappointment when they called to confirm but I had already confirmed via email. Either way, they cancelled it and I was unaware until I called with a question. No email or text notification was sent out.I booked another appointment but had to move it up for an emergency reason, I called to confirm so I could make sure all was well before the appointment day and as no one reached out to confirm the new appt.Turns out, it was not even properly scheduled into their system - a huge inconvenience for me.This is no way to operate a business, I will go elsewhere.

I went here for a routine eye exam. Every staff member that I interacted with was very friendly, the eye exam was quick, and I was not overcharged as some other reviews mentioned. Nothing fancy, but an overall pleasant experience.

Accidentally made an appointment at this location instead of the other one on Pennsylvania Ave (which used to be a great independent eye doctor practice before it got bought out myeyedr), but this location has such a low rating for a reason and this experience has motivated me to finally make the move to just go to Costco for my eye care going forward. This place is a scam, and adds all types of unexplained charges to your bill. Many other reviews have mentioned the $44 retinal image scam, but in addition to that they put a $29 eyewear protection plan onto my bill that I did not ask for and was not notified of at all. You don't get your itemized bill until after you have already paid, and by then I just wanted to get out of there, but you should avoid myeyedr in general. It's a shame they're buying up everything in the area.

I'm genuinely confused how this place has 5 star reviews. I was glad I had read previous reviews because when they tried to do the retinal imaging, I declined it. The doctor was friendly & professional, but then when I told her I liked my current contacts, she put me in a different brand (which I later learned is $20 more per box). I resisted their pressure multiple times to buy them at the store and now when I called to get a prescription for the contacts I wanted in the first place, they told me "We just got back from lunch, call back in 30 mins when maybe someone else can help you." Bad customer service from start to finish, now I'm going to have to go in person to TRY and get the correct prescription without getting charged again.

READ REVIEWS! Beware this is a SHAMAND SCAM: basically like a prior review mentioned, you go in for a new prescription (I went for contacts and glasses), without asking or informing me that it would cost more money, they perform "retinal imaging" I did not need or want (extra $44). When I checked out (I called twice prior to confirm my insurance covered everything) they told me my total was $150. Lol. What? When I asked why and the extra charges the FAT, rainbow colored hair assistant told me she’d ask the manager to handle it for her. They ended up ripping my prescription and throwing it away because I refused to pay their up charges and didn’t buy anything from them. How is this place still running boggles my mind. The doctor was perfectly professional.
