The National Portrait Gallery is one of the best museums in DC, with so much to see. It is packed with interesting portraits, art, and sculptures from many different eras and genres, including amazing presidential portraits. The museum is thoughtfully organized and truly magnificent. Special events, like an orchid show in the atrium or a women’s history month celebration with performances, are awesome. The staff is friendly and helpful. Visitors should not underestimate the museum and are advised to give themselves half the day or all day to leisurely appreciate it. The top floor offers a place to sit and relax. It is a must-see destination that tells the story of America.
Kind of a boring gallery, but pretty much all of the pictures are legitimate and have history behind them. It's very cool to see the cracks on the layers so you can see how old some of them are. But otherwise unless you are a historian or have studied Shakespearean or 1800s arts extensively, it does get repetitive after... read full comment

I loved it and learned so much about our presidents. I only spent two hours there but I wish I had more time.
