Thanks to Ashley, my curls have never looked better. She helped me to understand how to manage my curls after years of being clueless. The curly cuts always look great. I also enjoy the conversations on the latest pop culture and Missy Elliott songs that play in the background. Always a pleasant experience when I am at Parlour. She’s the best!

I’ve been coming here for a few years now. I see Joy for a curly cut and love her! I don’t actually live in DC I’m actually from the west coast in a small town but DC is my favorite city so I come back 1-2 times a year and see Joy every time I’m back. I wait to get my hair done bc I have thick coarse curly Puerto Rican hair and people in my town don’t have hair like mine so I just wait until I’m back in DC and Joy gets me right every time!

I can’t rave enough about this place! I’ve had so many bad experiences with haircuts in the past, due to my curly hair, that I pushed it off for two years. After extensive googling I stumbled upon Elizabeth. For the first time in my entire life I left the salon feeling beautiful! After using my hair as a security blanket for the past decade and I was ready for a big change - she took the time to listen to my wants and fears and we discussed what work best for my lifestyle. I couldn’t be happier with the final look!
I had a little confusion initially with getting onto the waitlist (I’m not an organized enough person to book months in advance), but once I called the salon they were able to get me sorted.

I was very excited to finally find a place with professionals who specialize in curly hair. My appointment started right on time, and Joy was awesome to work with!!! I went with the full experience, and it was worth it. From Joy seating down listening to all my concerns all the way to the cut, the styling, the awesome hair wash/massage, and the thorough explanation of how to care for my hair. I think I have found my place to go from now on!

Ok so...I haven't been back for a while because the service level was deteriorating each time, while the price was going up.Listen. I love my stylist and I'm happy she is busy and booked. I can see why everyone wants to see her, because she's great at what she does. BUT the past 2-3 times I've gone in, she was working on at least one other person's hair AT THE SAME TIME AS MINE.It wouldn't be a huge deal except that it's $180 for a cut and style. I have not liked the results as much as I used to and I think it's because she's constantly distracted by havng multiple clients at once.I'm distressed at having to find someone new, but after prices went up from 160-180 at the same time that this started happening, I started to feel like a cash cow being milked. If you're a stylist who needs a well-paying client, hit me up.

Honest review from a curly girl that’s five years in.Glows: Joy was super sweet and had a vibrant and welcoming attitude. She did a phenomenal job washing and conditioning my hair.Grows: She was scissor happy and took off about 5 inches of my hair. Keep in mind that I’ve been wearing my natural curls for five years and go to get diva cuts regularly. I told her that I wanted to retain length and that I only needed a trim. I use Innersense and Uncle Funky’s as a regular part of my hair routine. I explained this to her during the consultation. However, when it came to styling, she use a comb and raked mousse over my hair. I figured I was there for the cut and would restyle it when I got home. Once home, I soon realize that the cut was asymmetrical and that she had taken off significantly more than what I asked for.

Absolutely love our stylist Ashley, and everyone up here we interact with has been wonderful. Ashley has helped my teen daughter on her journey back to curly hair health after a salon claiming to understand curly hair absolutely ruined her gorgeous locks! (Insert eye roll. I should have seen it coming - if no one at the salon has curly hair, stay the eff away!)Ashley has been so gentle and loving with my daughter, and it’s clear we are in the hands of a REAL pro!

It's been over a week since the most expensive haircut I've ever received, and I still cringe every time I see my reflection.I have healthy 4c hair that I have worn naturally for over 15 years. I was excited about my first appointment with Parlour Salon. When I arrived, my hair was about 5 inches past my shoulders, with about 3 inches of dead ends. I asked to cut the dead ends and reshape my hair. I said I wanted my hair shoulder length in the curly mullet style (short in the front, longer in the back) and to trim my bangs. I showed the stylist a picture of myself with the exact haircut I described, as this is the haircut I've had for the last year (cut by my old stylist). The stylist seemed confident and did not mention any concerns except that she would cut less than I probably would want. I said that's not a problem.Unfortunately, the stylist did the opposite of what we discussed. She cut my hair into a bob significantly shorter in the back, longer in the front, and 1 - 3 inches above my shoulders. In addition, after washing and styling my hair at home, I realized with my hair in its natural curl, the stylist cut off 7-8 inches of my hair. I feel like I got a "big chop" without asking for it. The stylist never talked to me about changing the cut's shape or how much hair she cut off. She made these major decisions without my knowledge or input. As she was cutting, I admit I was becoming concerned about the shortness in the front. Yet, I didn't want to question the stylist's judgment when I had provided such precise desires for my haircut. Plus, she seemed so confident and I assumed (wrongly) that her extremely high rate correlated to her skills and experience. It was a hard lesson for me to learn, but I wish I had stopped the stylist to remind her what I wanted before she changed my haircut and cut most of my hair off. This is why I decided to leave a review. To encourage others trying this salon be vocal throughout your haircut to ensure you don't walk out in shock with a bob.

Elizabeth is an absolute wizard with curly hair! She has been cutting and coloring my hair for a few years and she’s my favorite stylist I’ve had anywhere I’ve lived. I literally found her because I saw someone with gorgeous curls and asked her who did them and it was Elizabeth, and now I too refer people who ask about my curls! She’s also super helpful with everything from home styling routine tips and product recommendations to scheduling or billing issues. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

Thrilled with my visit today. I've been going to another curly salon for a couple of years and it was time for a change. Mel took great care of me, she listened, and I got the exact cut that I asked for. Highly recommend.

Saw Jefferson for a Keratin consultation to confirm my curls wouldn't return after visiting a different salon for a Keratin treatment a few months before.Jefferson confirmed they wouldn't return and suggested a cut to enhance the curl pattern. He proceeded to ask some questions and he suggested layers, but I made the mistake of not specifying long layers. He proceeded to cut my hair when dry and I realized too much was being removed.Ever since this cut I have been crying and coming to terms with a style which is more difficult to maintain than the previous. The curls will stay for a day, but need restyling due to the keratin. The length will also take years to regrow. The salon/ Jefferson attempted to accommodate me, but it's important to know a clients styling habits before cutting their hair. Jefferson suggested new products, a new routine, and using a hooded or tabletop dryer. Buying and using a hooded dryer to accommodate a style is a large investment. He should not have suggested the cut. This is the worst cut I have ever received and I am trying to tell myself it looks good. It’s not about what others think, it’s about the client. Change is not always the answer.

Parlour DC has become my hair home in DC! After moving down to DC from Boston about ten years ago, I bounced around from salon to salon looking for the perfect baby blonde and blunt cut for super fine hair. Luckily I was introduced to Jefferson Wilson and my hair is exactly what I wanted. Best blonde of my life. The salon has 5 chairs, friendly staff, no attitude except for great customer service. Milbon, Amika and other products. Several of the staff do curly hair. Highly recommend.

Joy saved my daughter's hair.I can't go into the details of what caused the hair neglect that brought us to Joy to save the day (due to pending litigation) but I was certain a total haircut was eminent. It took over 4 hours of tag teaming this one young head of hair along with SO MUCH PATIENCE to get through the matted and already broken hair.Joy is not only talented but she has a deep rooted love and appreciation for hair, the way children identify with their appearance and the importance of the self care that's at the root of a healthy love for yourself.I wish we had taken a picture of the after but I can confidently say, had it not been for Joy's help, my daughter would have lost more hair, probably the entirety of her waist long hair, because of the knots, mats and breakage that had developed. Joy had not seen a situation this dire except for 3 times in her career and she managed to save the day EACH TIME! You are a godsend Joy!!! Thank you.
