This is one of the most efficient and professional pharmacies I have been to in the last 5 years. It's mainly due to one man: Samuel. My walk-in vaccines were done in 10 minutes. This man needs a bonus.

they never have carts available. Expecting a customer to have to go downstairs to the garage to find a cart is unacceptable.

Safeway in DC turned out to be a great spot for meal prep during our hotel stay. If you're looking to save money and avoid overpriced fast food, this is definitely the way to go. They have a solid selection of hot food that's way more affordable than eating out every meal. It made it easy to grab something quick but still decent.
One hiccup—my cart had a locked wheel that made it a bit of a struggle to maneuver through the store. Also, it was a little odd having to scan my receipt just to exit the building. I'm not used to that, but I guess it’s their way of keeping things secure.
All in all, it’s a solid choice for travelers wanting quick, affordable meals without the fast-food guilt. I’d definitely stop in again.

Best. Pharmacy. Ever. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
They know my name. They call me as soon as there is an issue. Always one step ahead of me regarding refills, different cost options (mail, coupons), etc. And…they’re easy to reach! No waiting on hold for 30 minutes like other local pharmacies. Give them a shot. You won’t regret it!

Safeway is huge and a lot of options. We stopped by for some basic groceries and they had everything we were looking for. Lots of parking and in a good area. They also have armed security which I thought was kind of odd. In any case everything was great. Great customer service and great check out experience

Waited 1.5 hours and they never brought my groceries out. I went in and they told me to go find a cart so I could take my groceries. Took me 15 minutes of searching before I discovered the only cart was 1 the employee was using for boxes. She finally moved the boxes so I would have a cart. Due to the wait and the refusal of the staff to validate my parking, I had to pay for parking to be able to get out of the cat urine smelling parking garage. There was a cashier yelling at people trying to utilize customer service that customer service was busy and to go away. After all of this, I get groceries home and the ice cream and Popsicles I purchased were melted and had to be thrown away. I would not recommend using this or any Safeway as if this is their standard...there is no hope of this being rectified.

The people who work at this pharmacy are lazy and incompetent. I’ve never once called in a prescription and not have to come multiple times to pick it up, they can’t do basic things like finding the right prescription in your file, and they will figure out a way to do the least amount of effort possible to serve customers. Total waste of time, do not fill your prescriptions here if you don’t want to spend 5xs the amount of time you should picking up one lousy script.

Seriously the kindest, sweetest pharmacist ever when I called on Saturday (04/27) - made my stressful experience of my medication being out of stock at pharmacies so much less painful. I appreciate y'all so much!!

This pharmacy is fantastic. The staff is organized and professional. The CVS next door was just too chaotic. I am glad I made the switch. Highly recommend.

Rick is always very helpful in filling our dogs prescriptions. We happily switched from CVS pharmacy to Safeway for better customer service. We are overall always pleased. The one downside is that they don’t review voicemails quickly due to high volume so voicemails often get overlooked. It’s much better to go in person.

As of 10/28/2023, I'm happy to update you that Safeway SW DC has gotten itself together. After a very unsafe and unsatisfying summer, the store has not only renovated the interior, but has also re-staffed, and re-stocked. New security gates have been installed to prevent "steal and run" activity, and there's not an appropriate amount of actual law enforcement with badges shown in the store. Gone are the days of clearly teenage security guards. Kudos to the staff who stuck it out this past summer, because it was rough and hard long unsafe nights at this Safeway. Happy to see the much-needed change. Now it's a longer conversation about DC safety and the Mayor regarding the need for such security measures in a grocery store, but I'll take this over what once was. Do yourself a favor if you live in Southwest DC, and give our Safeway another chance.

Not a bad pharmacy, better the one next door CVS. I just went for a flu shot, the website says walk in accepted. I already made a call to confirm, no one answered. Still I went there , just to know that it do not accept walk in anymore. So, it was a bad trip for me.
