I shop at Safeway nearly day. There is a employee I need to praise. Mr. Ramone. He goes beyond to help customers. I can not Express how helpful he is. I wish all employees would take his example to better themselves. Garland McCutchen Safeway on Columbia Road Washington DC Thank you.

If you've been to a Safeway in D.C. before, you'll know what to expect. For me, I came to get balloons for my seven-year-old daughter's birthday. The woman behind the flower area was very helpful and kind. After choosing a big balloon and colors of smaller balloons, I was on my way. It only cost around $15.

Workers are nice but the store is dirty

Unfortunately, terrible customer service, poor maintenance, and just a store left to its own device. A poor customer in front of me dropped some tomatoes and no one cared to help her pick them up. No cashiers to be found. Self checkout packed with customers left without a single team member to help.

Whoever manages this Safeway or whoever approves selling boxes that are not full, resealed with packaging tape, is cruel and try to fool consumers. Doesn't matter if you put them on the clearance aisle discounted. Those boxes contain less than what is written on their labels. What you are doing is criminal.

My husband has been discriminated on here at this Safeway, the bad thing is he shops there all the time. Unfortunately we have to pay for bags in dc stores so most people have bags to carry there things which was purchased. However the security decides to pick him out of all people to say he is stealing which he was not and he just came from self check out with a receipt. Very sad.

The self checkout has improved checkout. Seems to be better stocked than in early 2023.

Trader Joe's is way better than Safeway. The general atmosphere of the store is not relaxing, employees shouting at each other.Fruits and vegetables look not fresh, blueberries and strawberries are moldy.Expired products in yogurt section.Prices are higher than Trader Joe's and Lidl for the same products and brands. It was an extremely rainy day, so I went to this store nearby my hotel, as I couldn't walk to the nearest Trader Joe's.

All good but for the prices. Nice employees and all but store brands significantly higher than giant.

This place has the worst vibes and I will avoid at all cost. There is a clear lack of maintenance for the restroom area (including tissue and drying paper towel). But the most disappointing reason of all is the security that noticeably followed me around on each of 2 visits. Perhaps, I fit the description..

This is the only safeway in downtown dc, unfortunately. But great if you're coming from the convention center, capital one arena, chinatown for the movies or dinner, 6th and I synagogue, Portrait gallery/american art museum, shakespeare theater, or really anywhere downtown including metro center. 490 L, but really 5th and L. Parking under building. Walking to chinatown and convention center metro stations. DC stores sell alcohol which MD stores do not, so it's really 1 stop shopping. Large deli and ready to eat section, and small dining area available in starbucks. Good selection with full butcher and seafood counters, bakery, and deli counter.
