Do not recommend. Unprofessional service and incompetent personnel for a service that is supposed to help people. What kind of company does not schedule a pick-up time ? They continued to reschedule and failed to show.

The only reason anybody ever needs to contact the area command is when there is a problem, because they are in fact structured like any other corporation, but they mislead you into thinking that there's some sort of accountability feature for all their shelters. The issue is that they refuse to pick up the phone at any of their shelters, on top of that, the website numbers do not work, and half of the time when you call in, the number goes to some random person's voicemail, the other half it gets you a robot answering machine? There's no consistency in the calls indicating to me that there's suspicious activity over at The Salvation Armies, so why would anybody want to donate here, if they can't be trusted to have a person pick up the phone to talk to about general inquiries? Oh, and the area command refuses to pick up the phone as well. They become more and more exposed in their corruption, and they proclaim and beg and use homeless people to beg for them, to bring them in money to continue in their scam operation. Why don't you start building trust in the people by PICKING UP THE PHONE. You have so many shadowy people on salary that never show their face to these homeless shelters, friends of friends, of friends of the top leaders of this company, all being paid for by the donations, but who never do anything.

I will never ever recommend anyone to donate clothes or furniture to Salvation Army. They’re extremely picky and no one has time to have a pickup and be refused. I had a couch that was in decent shape and because the arm had a crease on it, it was denied. Even the pickup guy for them said they’ve been denying good stuff all day. It’s ridiculous. Just say you don’t want to pickup furniture and stop advertising that you do. Go to 1800 got junk

Nice. I was able to reconnect with my true self. Food, Clothing, Shelter & unconditional Love. I obtained Peace and Happiness, as well as other services there inorder for me to help myself whenever I was struggling with certain issues I had along the way.

This company sales your donated product for top dollar! I called to donate my like new dresser that has a small scratch on it. They tell me that they cannot take it. Seriously, it's a thrift store for God sake not a new furniture store. The furniture was hardly used. It's bad enough that I don't shop there because it's too expensive but then I try to donate and you want the furniture to be perfect. I really hope this store goes out of business soon!

The Salvation Army has put me in a tough predicament. I am remodeling my house. Wanted to donate my furniture to somebody who may need it this 4th. So I thought of the Salvation Army as I have donated to them many times over the course of my life. I scheduled a pick up, had to wait 2 weeks. They wouldn't do stairs so it took two of us to carry all this stuff down 3 flights of stairs in 100+ degrees heat. The people in the truck showed up, but to my surprise, only took a bunch

I'm moving from the Annandale/Alexandria area in Virginia and packed a big bag full of expensive and nice jeans and sweatshirts and shoes i wanted to donate...I drove 30 minutes to the Salvation Army to donate them...when I pulled around back...all the workers were standing around ...the guy came up to my car ..and said ...â€just clothes?â€...I said “yeah?†And he grabbed the bag and walked away.

Yes the salvation army is a very nice organization raising money. Their infamous bell ringers and kettles are unique. HOWEVER, the bells kinda have driven a person to the annoyed point, where stores are now saying "no". I think salvation army will have to look into this and see where to go with it. Since stores are dropping them. Times have changed now. Best wishes.
