This is one of my favorite local DC book stores. While browsing the books last week I noticed they had a copy of "Unsettling Truths", the book I co-authored. I offered to sign it and they happily agreed.

I can’t believe I had never been in this #blackowned bookstore! @solidstatedc was too cute inside and they even had a lady singing songs and reading to the littles! The ?on top was @handcraftdoughnuts ! The owner was so kind to me and mom and the donuts were DELISH. Check them out early, because they DO sell out!We got the buttermilk glazed and the maple… both were scrumptious! Did I mention this ghost kitchen, small bath donut pop up is also a #blackownedbusiness ?☺️#hstreet #washingtondc #donuts

One of the best family-friendly neighborhood bookstores. Has a small play area for kids story time and a great curation of books for everyone!

I absolutely love the ambiance of the store, particularly the children's section where I take my three-year-old.However, I don't have as successful of an experience when I visit looking for specific books. A few months ago I stopped by to look for a YA book whose film adaptation has recently been released. I couldn't find the book nor any of the books in the series. Granted, their YA section is small - limited to a small bookcase - but I expected them to be cashing in on the new film. Right after Christmas I visited to purchase a cookbook I've seen in other bookstores. It wasn't there, so I ordered it. Six weeks of no communication from the store until I received notice this week that the book has arrived. Six weeks is a pretty long time to wait for a book. So in my experience, the store can have a limited selection depending on the subject and orders can take over a month to arrive.

Excellent bookstore! Great selection of national bestsellers, local books, cards and stationary. There are a lot of personal recommendations made by bookstore staff which I love to see! You can buy wine, beer (many local) and cider as well as coffee drinks to hold as you wander around the store or work from their long communal table. They also have a bar where people were working on their laptops.

One of my favorite bookstores! They offer so many fun book clubs! And it’s dog friendly, so I can stop by when I’m walking my dog.
