St. Alban's Opportunity Shop is a true gem in the community. With its recent reopening, it continues its legacy of providing quality goods at affordable prices since 1955. The shop's commitment to supporting those in need is commendable, and I am proud to contribute to their cause. The weekly shopping hours are convenient, and the friendly staff always makes my visit enjoyable. Whether I'm looking for clothing, household items, or unique treasures, the Op Shop never disappoints. It's heartwarming to know that my purchases go towards helping the community. I highly recommend paying a visit to this wonderful thrift store.

Mask enforcement, and then they rush you, "because there is a line to get in" well, I made the effort to be here in a timely manner, they can wait.

A Tale of Two Experiences: I was put off during my first visit to the Opportunity Shop. The young man who greeted me from the checkout counter seemed very tightly wound and stressed out, almost un-welcoming. Several customers were browsing and he seemed visibly worried that they would break something; that's entirely possible: the store is tightly packed with glassware and china, especially when you first walk in. Still, the clerk's agitated vibe was so palpable that I cut my visit short. A few days later, I decided to give this shop another go, and I am glad I did (the tightly-wound clerk was there but was having a much better day). The Opportunity Shop is a treasure trove of all kinds of cool antiques: paintings, knick-knacks, sculptures, household items, collectibles (a Shirley Temple doll, for example) and so much more (see my photos)! It's absolutely the kind of place where a contestant on one of the up-and-coming-designer reality shows finds That Cool Thing that looks funky/cool/vintage/perfect on the mantle. It's clear that they must be selective in what they accept to sell. Another thing to note is that prices on items go down the longer they stay in the store; a "schedule" of these upcoming discounts is available on each price tag. Be sure not to miss the second floor which, like the first floor, is chock-a-block with treasures!

Hi, I have volunteered at the St. Alban's "Op Shop" since 2010, so I might be accused of bias, but I wanted to correct the factual error indicating that the Op Shop doesn't accept credit cards (we do!). I also wanted to note that our space constrains us somewhat in the amount of inventory we can offer on any one day (and we rarely have room for even small pieces of furniture)...but the upside for people shopping for clothing/accessories, books and household goods is that most of us volunteers work hard to get fresh "good-condition" inventory on the floor as fast as possible, at prices low-enough to result in quick turnover. (BTW, the bulk of our sale-proceeds go to local charities...a much smaller percentage pays for the Op Shop's overhead, including the salary of only one paid-employee.) For anyone who hasn't visited the Op Shop in the past 4-5 years, I encourage you to take another look! Again, I admit to bias, but over the past several years, I can attest to the fact that both the quality and presentation of our merchandise have improved significantly...and we are now attracting shoppers who buy in-bulk to re-sell in vintage shops and on-line sites. So...consider "skipping the middle-man/woman" and shop at the Op Shop! Cheers, Monica

It's a cute little thrift store with variety of things. I really enjoy going here because of the unique things you can find at a reasonable price. I bought two luluroe dresses for 20 bucks. The people who work there are volunteers and are super helpful and friendly. I recommend this spot to donate gently used clothes and housewares. Also, I recommend this spot for shopping with a budget and in a quest to find one of kind things.
