I'm very particular about my time, as I'm a structured person. When I decided to book an appointment with this business, I knew I wanted everything to go smoothly. I scheduled a shampoo and blow-dry service with a trim, arriving at my appointment around 3:50 PM, expecting to be seated by 4 PM. However, that wasn't the case. Upon arrival, I was directed to the waiting area, where I sat for about 40 minutes. At 4:40 PM, I was finally called to the station where my hair was washed and blow-dried by a different stylist than the one I had originally requested. Although she did an okay job, the wash and blow-dry took an hour and a half.
After that, I was instructed to wait for my original stylist, who was still working on another client. I waited for another hour and a half. My frustration grew because my appointment was only supposed to last 45 minutes, yet I ended up spending over two hours at the salon. Eventually, I couldn't wait any longer. I paid for the shampoo and blow-dry service and left without the trim at 6:45 PM.
I was disappointed because this was my first time at this salon, and I had high hopes due to the positive reviews I had read. I'm unsure if I'll return in the future, but we'll see.

Updated review: My hair survived pregnancy and postpartum shedding thanks to Studio Chique. I have been coming here for 10 years and I love everything about the Gift of Chique. I started coming when I wanted to transition from relaxers and cut some hair little by little. It took me about 3 years to fully transition and now I love my healthy hair. I am able to do versatile styles and I appreciate the deep conditioning process using the steamer. My hair always feel loved when I come here...and my color is always on point

I’ve been to many spas but by far Studio Chique Rhode Island Ave, DC has been the best spa I’ve been to! You get this feeling of Royalty when you hit that front door as you’re greeted with so much love and class! The staff are well trained and goes above and beyond to meet your needs and they pay attention to detail! This place has a bright future in the spa industry, I see myself going back for serves many times more!

The true definition of black excellence! I have worked a numerous spas and salons who have been voted best of Washingtonian, but I can say this is the best of the dmv I have seen thus far! 10 out of 10! Pictures doesn’t do this place justice!
Specialties: Natural hair! Any hair types everything will come out silky smooth!

I love this newly renovated location! Super elegant! I went to see Alana to get a Head Spa and I highly recommend her and the service. She communicated what was happening during the head spa to make sure I knew what was going on and to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone was very professional and had wonderful customer service. Definitely will be back to see Alana and Studio Chique!

I had microlinks installed here by Ngina.
Ladies if you care about hair care microlinks is not it. The link pulled out a good amount of my hair. Ngina said she had never seen anything happen like that before. That is hard to believe and wish she would have educated me about this possibility. I really do not feel like this style should even exist for black hair because it is extremely damaging.
It is also a very expensive style and you think you are paying for versatility like you can wear the hair in multiple styles that you can do yourself. The way Ngina did my hair I could not. I could only wear it down with the initial side part. I might as well have just gotten a weave.
Now for the service I received. Ngina was nice (she ordered a smoothie for herself and asked if I wanted one too) but very talkative. She basically gave a whole sermon to the other stylists there while doing my hair. I think all the talking slows her down. The salon in my opinion has a very ghetto fabulous vibe. Overall for styles other than microlinks I think they do a pretty good job.
