Victor has been my financial advisors for years and I have always followed him wherever Suntrust sent him. If that was not for him, I would have no opinions of the bank since everything is done online now. Victor is the perfect definition of an attentive, trusty, VP Branch Manager. Suntrust / Truist is lucky to have him. Thank you Victor for everything you do for your customers, I really appreciate it.

I am dissatisfied with my current bank and am looking for a replacement that can provide checking and a safety deposit box. SunTrust has branches in all the right places downtown, but there is a problem: I'm a victim of both the OPM and Equifax data breaches and have "frozen" all of my credit files in response. So...no information is returned in response to credit or ID checks. Obviously, that makes getting a new account tricky since many banks run a credit check, even when you're not applying for credit. Enter SunTrust who assured me that it would be no problem. All I needed to do was come to a branch where they could check my identity information and override the credit bureau check. Well...not so much... After providing them with my DL, my passport, and my Federal PIV; after answering a whole slew of invasive questions about my finances they said: "We're sorry, we don't seem to have the option to override the credit check. You'll have to unfreeze your Equifax file for 60 days." My response, "Not going to happen!" Here's what I think happened: All the financial questions were designed to see if making me a customer would bring them more deposits than just what they'd get with an ordinary checking account. When it became obvious that checking was all they were going to get, they decided it wasn't worth it and told me to go pound sand. This smacks of either discrimination against people who try to protect themselves against identity theft or a financial/wealth-based litmus test. Go somewhere else.
