Probably one of the worst practices I have been to in 42 years. The doctors are incredibly dismissive and refuse to write referrals for specialists. I've had knee trouble since I was 13. Asked for a referral to an orthopedist and was refused. Got a referral to an orthopedist at Georgetown and it turns out I have 2 dislocated knee caps and cartilage damage. I had life altering knee surgery within 3 months of see this orthopedist. GW MFA regularly has appointments schedlued 3--8 months out and cancels appointments without notice. I would not recommend even taking a gold fish there.

This review is for the OBG YN practice. I have been waiting 9 months... 9!!!!!! To see a doctor. I had my appointment set up for July 19th and just received a call to cancel, they offered to fit me right in with a nurse or other practitioner but NOT a doctor. What a joke! GW Medical OBG YN practice is a disaster, do not go here for this service. They don't care about patients and their doctors are leaving all over the place.

I have two instances of this place really not seeing patients as humans; I have been referred here for mammograms from my Doctor's office, and after last year I asked to go someplace else this year, and going forward.. I was called back in last year, fortunately for a benign cyst, however as I was asking the Doctor questions it was as if I was bothering her, annoying her, or wasting her time. At one point, she told me "that was nothing you need to worry about, I'm the doctor." Look, I wouldn't dare to think that I'm a Doctor, I'm an engineer--and that's my specialty. But when we're talking about my body, and my health, especially when there's a potential cancer diagnosis coming (no matter how small the chances are)--some compassion and kindness would have gone a log way. Add into that a lot of disrespect for time (one appointment there I was in the waiting room for several hours and missed another appointment). And I just want to go somewhere else where. Secondly, because of a heart condition my brother and mother share, I was referred to a cardiologist to make sure I didn't have it as well. Went in to get the EKG, and I asked to have a female nurse in the room with the male technician and myself. Hey, I'm going in braless, and that would've made me feel better. The technician began berating me, and yelling at me for this request. So when he left to (finally) get the nurse, I got dressed and left and my concerns were brushed off. I went to another doctor (no heart murmur, yay!).

Dr Joel Willis is my Primary Care Physician. I am very high maintenance and he is very response to all questions and needs through MyChart messaging.. He is a great doctor with a holistic approach to health. His staff is excellent and very friendly and knowledgeable.

This company is a legit JOKE! I recently “worked” in the emergency medicine, government contracts division and when I say lackluster management with oblivious mindsets! Rachel Mazzotta is beyond bubbles for brains and literally will sit behind a closed door to avoid inner office issues. They lack structure, stability and just general professionalism. Literally the WORST excuse of employment I’ve ever been pained to have

The doctors I have interacted with have, by and large, been caring and competent, but the practice works like a machine that feels highly impersonal. Especially for the OB-GYN practice. They consistently cancel, change, or postpone my appointments, often at short-notice. There seems to be minimal communication within the OB team about patients and getting any information is extremely difficult. It is unclear to whom I can ask questions and everyone I have spoken to on the phone seems rushed and generally uninterested in my concerns. I will switch practices.

Give up now. They may have the best doctors in the world, but no one answers the phone or returns a voice mail. Ever. You will wait weeks for a response. Look at the thousands of other reviews here saying the same thing. It's a problem they appear to have no intention of fixing.

The doctors all seem to be caring and have their best interest for you at heart. However, once the exam is over and you're out of their office All communication goes through the irresponsible 'assistant' which is suppose to fax referrals and information to another doctor or facility. Dr. Burger took a good amount of time speaking with me (TELEDOC) call and taking in all of my concerns, previous history and suspected Diagnosis. Her referral to a specialist at John Hopkins took MULTIPLE phone calls, and consistently following up to ensure the task was complete. Her assistant Daryn was incompetent and extremely rude. She would not fax the MRI images or MRI reports without the permission of Dr. Burger. I could never reach Dr. Burger because she kept Intervening my emails. HORRIBLE SYSTEM!!! And for an assistant to NOT FOLLOW UP with doctor when another doctor is requesting these images is incomprehensible To me. Dr. Burger would get a 4.5 star Daryn ZERO stars, with some retraining on customer service and etiquette. Debora Dean

GW Medical exemplifies the dysfunction of the American medical system. It's a behemoth provider with a non-responsive, unaccountable bureaucracy and some of the highest fees in the area. I have had a number of healthcare providers in my lifetime, and have never encountered the administrative incompetence and lack of empathy that plagues GW Medical. I stuck with GW Medical for over two years because I was reluctant to take on the hassle of changing providers. But GW Medical is actually pretty terrible at even basic functions. In the past year, GW Medical has repeatedly ignored two different pharmacies that have contacted them about refilling some common medications. Each time, I had to call several times to press the refill requests, which GW Medical staff mostly ignored. GW Medical is also terrible at communicating. I called to request a refill, which GW Medical agreed to, but then they changed their minds, rejected the refill, and never bothered to tell me. I had to wait and follow up with the pharmacy and GW Medical staff several times to figure out what was going on. Then GW Medical staff would only approve a refill dosage that wasn't even covered by my insurance. As a result, I experienced a long gap in my medication and finally just gave up and paid out of pocket for the refill. That was the last straw, and I am changing providers to avoid any more stress and expense due to GW Medical's inability to get its act together. I know other patients have had similar experiences and have also switched providers. Don't make my mistake. Avoid GW Medical!

These people are frauds and scammers. Their billing department has been harassing me for $1000 for over one year that my doctor's office told me and them several times I did not owe. Their customer service department is useless and has been giving me the run around the entire time. My doctor already left their network and 4 months later they are still harassing me! Truly unbelievable. DO NOT GO HERE.

I have had two primary care doctors quit the GW system in the last 1 1/2 years. Also, I scheduled an appointment with the gastroenterology department -- with a five month wait -- only to have the doctor cancel the appointment and offer an appointment one month later (for a total of six months). I decided to stop using GW Medical whenever possible. Very disappointing.

Many of my doctors have quit. One in less than a year there. Is it a bad place for female doctors? Bad for doctors in general? I feel my care is really haphazard because of this. Would love to hear from GW about this.

Absolutely nonresponsive. Spent three days trying to get clarification on a prescription sent over, left multiple messages, including requiring alternative for one that is out of stock. I'm on antibiotics and not told how long to take them. Never returned any of my calls, nor sent me a link to "mychart" as they promised. Already tried reaching out to "patient experience" office -- the fact that this department needs to exist might be a clue to how disorganized and ineffectually it is run.

I had a great experience with the fertility doctors here. While they are a little disorganized on the process (and you need to make sure YOU are on top of things, and being proactive when you think you need something, e.g., a refill on prescriptions), I found the doctors to be excellent and knowledgeable, and the billing staff to be super helpful and receptive. Everyone I've interacted with has been friendly and helpful.
