The atmosphere is nice and the menu is diverse. The food is homemade and authentic. We really enjoyed the hot mixed appetizer. Our seafood entree had overcooked shrimp and very undercooked jumbo scallops, which is why we're giving a 4 star review instead of 5. It was also overpriced compared to other similar restaurants, but that had to do with location in DC as much as anything else. Regardless, I'd like to go back and try again.

We were a party of 10. Went for a birthday party. The service was great. The staff accommodated us very well and they were really nice. Appetizers were okay. However, the entree I had wasn't great. I had baked lamb with orzo. It was soggy. The fat wasn't trimmed at all and it was a wet mess and not the best combination for either the spaghetti or the orzo.

Hands down one of the best Greek spots in the DC area. Generous portions of delicious authentic Greek food. If you go, I highly suggest the flambé souvlaki.

Spur of the moment decision to visit and we're so glad we did. Our picky dieter found lots she could eat and the rest of us went all out with specials and specialities. The gyro was excellent, the kabobs were, too. I had scallops and linguini and they were huge and outstanding. Our server was hilarious and very helpful with menu questions and recommended an outstanding Greek wine. [Note: the wine needed to breathe (I thought it had turned at first.). But after I waited a while it opened up and was one of the most excellent I've ever had - that if you love dry and oakey.] Everything was a little pricey, but I have to say it was all totally worth it.

A wonderful neighborhood restaurant with great Greek homemade feeling food and an owner who cares passionately about it. I miss the bar here but I'm so very glad to have the food and the people.

We hadn’t been here in a while—forgot how good it was. Not too far a drive and parking wasn’t difficult. Nice pour of wine. Started with cold dolmades—very good. Split pastitio and a stuffed trout (spinach and feta)—large portions. Ended with baklava—tasty. Very good service. Reasonable prices. We’ll be returning.

A long-time Greek restaurant with several parts: traditional dining room found inside; good-sized bar to the side; and outdoor seating area that has a very causal vibe. It's an old school place with recipes from the past that are right on the money. Moussaka, spanakopita, avgolemono bowl and chicken souvlaki are my favs. The baklava is respectable. Easy-going service although it does take a while to get the food, particularly when busy. Could sit here all day. Oh yeah, big time Capitals supporter. Gotta love that!

The Parthenon has been one of my families favorite restaurants for around 8 years. The staff are always doing their best to make your dining experience enjoyable, while being helpful and kind. The restaurant includes inside and outdoor seating. Inside, the restaurant has a cozy and amazing interior. The outdoor seating is another great place to eat. You are allowed to bring your pets with you to accompany you as well. Not to mention the delicious Greek food. In general, it's a great restaurant that you should totally check out if you have the time.

I hate leaving negative reviews, but I was very disappointed in the order I recently received from Parthenon Restaurant via DoorDash. Pastitsio is generally my favorite meal, and for $20 I was expecting some great pastitsio from this restaurant. Unfortunately, when it arrived it was extremely greasy, very overdone, mushy, and bland. In addition, the accompanying vegetables were too salty to be edible. I added a star because the free bread that arrived with my order was absolutely delicious and the portions were generous.

This place looks like a real dump. You walk in and take a seat anywhere you like. It is strictly for locals who are regulars. The bread and butter was ok. The butter pat was at room temperature and was spreadable. I had the large Greek salad that came with two slices of feta cheese ($13.50). The salad greens were fresh. My date had the Cold Appetizers For Two $24.50 yogurt tzatziki, Hummus, Greek caviar tarama, Greek fasolia beans, emam baildi, feta cheese, olives and pita. He must have liked it since he asked to take the rest of the meal home and the waiter did box it up promptly. I had a glass of Kidonitsa wine that was light and refreshing on a hot summer day. The wait service was prompt. The waiter did refill our water glasses. We ate inside because it was too hot to eat outside on the patio that is in front of the place with all the street traffic and noise. This place is just for the locals. The interior is a mess. It is 3 narrow townhouses connected to each other. One of the narrow townhouses is the Chevy Chase Lounge. The other restaurants in the area really looked like a better deal with better interiors. I will try those other ones next time I am in the area.

I was visiting Washington a few weeks ago and ate the Parthenon. We were seated outside on a covered patio on a nice cool evening. For appetizers we the Saganaki Flambe and the Manitaria Gemista (mushroom stuffed with crab). Both were delicious. In addition, we had three shots of Ouzo to celebrate our upcoming Greek main courses. In between the meals one of the owners Mike came over and had a long conversation about the history of the restaurant and the food. There were three of us and for the main course I ordered the Broiled Pork Chops with potatoes and vegetables, my friend ordered the Glosa Gemisti with Crab Meat and vegetables, (stuffed Flounder), our third person had a Greek salad. As you can see by the pictures the portions were generous. The food was delicious, and the service was out of this world. There was the metered street parking, and this restaurant is dog friendly on the outside patio section. So, when in the Chevy Chase area and looking an authentic Greek restaurant for lunch or dinner the Parthenon is the place to go.

The Parthenon is a justly beloved traditional Greek restaurant in DC. Enjoying a meal on the Parthenon’s attractive outdoor patio is a rite of spring and rightly so. Portions are generous and service friendly. Some restaurants never seem to change and the Parthenon is one of them. That’s the point. While I’ve been less enamored of a few of the traditional entrees post-pandemic (I’ve found the baked lamb and moussaka duller than previously, although my companion loved the latter), there is some delicious Greek food to be had here.My latest visit yielded the following excellent preparations: fried squid (light, tender with a crisp exterior), lamb souvlaki (beautifully grilled with a hint of char, also available in chicken or pork) and baklava (not overly sweet, a symphony in flaky philo, walnuts and cinnamon.) The traditional Greek coffee makes a delicious end to a meal (choose your desired level of sweetness: bitter, medium or sweet.)Enjoy!

The SPOT! Amazing amazing place. A neighborhood favorite. It does seem local celebs like to frequent here too. You'll see the photos on the wall. We actually watched them turn away Jake Tapper because it was too full! Arrive closer to 5pm if you don't want to wait. Outdoor seating is so pleasant in the warmer months. Their baked feta is iconic. Anything lamb is great. Greek salad is also a must! The manager, I'm afraid I don't remember his name, is wonderful! They were so swamped and honestly food was a bit slow but he made it so much better by checking on us constantly. We didn't even ask but he overheard it was a birthday and brought us a birthday treat. So thoughtful! Above and beyond and will definitely be back.
