Worst bank in terms of service provided, customer service and app. The app doesn’t show you a dam thing and customer service is only during 9-5pm. Can’t really do anything online everything requires a bank visit.

May 2025 by Moving On For Good
Today I went to the United Bank branch, located at 1301 U Street NW, Washington, DC 20009, to cash my job check since I was in the area. Unfortunately, I encountered a rude and unprofessional bank teller. She told me I could not cash my check at that bank without opening an account first. However, the check is drawn on United Bank, and I have cashed my check at another United Bank branch without two forms of ID. The bank teller kept trying to force me to open up an account with them just to cash my check, and when I refused, she became very angry and hostile and said she was no longer going to assist me and told me to get out of her store. She was so comfortable with how she had just spoken to me, as if she’d done it before. As for the other bank teller, she was just standing there watching. If this is how United Bank treats their customers or allows their employees to speak to theirs, it is very disheartening. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. After I left the bank and got into my car, she proceeded to come outside, staring at me until I pulled off. I felt very uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend anyone patronizing their business.

Great service. Bring the courtesy cold spring water and hot coffee and cocoa back for customers.

Nice people but a totally unhelpful disaster of a "bank". Made mistakes at every step, like opening my account with the wrong birthdate so then I couldn't use it, or transferring the wrong amounts of money several times. Also profoundly inconvenient . . . doesn't offer ANY functional online banking. You have to physically go into the bank to get anything done. Literally any other bank you could choose will be better.

These people seem nice, but several misups, and blunders, is like they don't pay attention to to what they are doing not the clerk's am referring to the managers I rate one and half out of five stars, nice but lavking, too many mistakes am closing my new account end of last week in December 20018, I just opened it two months ago , but too many mistakes for me by them to continue.i wouldn't not recommend, or recommend that, just be careful cause they appear nice just to many mistakes, I wouldn't trust them.i let them know it, so I guess they would be happy for me to go ad I extrly happy to leave asap.keep your records updated with this bank consumers.

where to start....weeeellll first off, overdraft fees gon run ya bout 36.00 even if you have it turned off and a charge comes thru that wasn't supposed to (the company refunded the money but the overdraft was too bad so sad) IF you lose or damage your card you have to go into the office to get it replaced, but wait, first do the paper work pay ten bucks then go home and wait for it by the mailbox in about 12 days. Got a charge that needs to be disputed? NOOOO PROBLEM, just come on down to the office again and fill out some paperwork and see what happens. Need to change your mailing address. NOOO PROBLEM, just come on down to the office and fill out more paperwork. Any problems you have with your account will need to also be dealt with at the specific bank where you opened it. You cant go to united bank uptown if you opened the account downtown...I could go on but you get the idea now I hope.
