Open Sunday, which is great, but don’t trust the self-service machines and drop boxes. Have dropped off multiple items that never get scanned, so clearly stolen by someone who has access to the drop boxes inside this post office…

Worst service! Lady that works there had the nerve to tell me to go to the main office and complain about an issue. Very poor service. Messed up on my package.

It was open Sunday. Super fast because I had my box taped up and QR code ready. Everyone was chill.

Union Station has been slowly fizzing out. There is a revitalization place that is supposed to be finished 13 years from 2023. Until then, there will be phases of "life" in the building. The post office is one of the reasons to visit, besides Metro or Amtrak. The post office is small. The supplies are limited. The employees were polite.

Visit fairly often. Sometimes a small line; however moves pretty fast. This facility is open seven days a week and is only one of several open on Sunday in the District of Columbia. Sells stamps, money orders, envelopes, passports available with an appointment, a variety of sized postal boxes for personal and business use, etc. The staff are very helpful and have pleasant personalities and are courteous and efficient. Located within the US Postal Museum. One of the oldest buildings/museums in the DMV area that doesn't charge an entrance fee for touring. Also have historical information on how the post office started out with articles and equipment dating back to earlier times of delivering the U.S. Mail via horse to buggy, trains, etc. Lots of history, free post cards, and information. Adjacent to the Union Station and on or near Metro bus, trains, DC Circulator, MARC, VRE, and other commuter bus and trains.

The building is such a cool location and there is never a line but the staff is so unnecessarily rude every time I go that I’m picking another location as my local USPS.

The USPS is just asking for trouble . They are purposely obstructing the goals of 90% of those calling USP. USPS has set up long AI generated phone menus to keep people from reaching any staff member. Then if you do use the menus, you may be placed on hold for long stretches and then their system simply hangs up on you. I tried to reach a staff member for 4 hours today. I'm a law abiding nonviolent person who finds nonviolent ways to cope with frustration. I write. Others choose other conduct when frustrated. I'd suggest that the USPS find ways to allow the public to access staff to discuss issues. If they don't, and if they continue on the path they are on, the results might be disastrous-but that does not mean disastrous for the post office. It could be. But it could also be disastrous for other people in other settings. That's because violent person who become frustrated don't necessarily take their frustrations out on those who frustrate them. They may harm others in other settings that are more accessible to them. USPS wants to stop paying staff and doesn't care if it screws the public to save money by using AI. But the savings goes into the pockets of very few-and not to the public and not to workers. The USPS is creating a problematic climate that harms society. The savings may be to a few execs in USPS who have obscene salaries. But the cost is to us.USPS is purposely obstructing the goal of 90% of those calling or seeking to contact USPS. They know most people calling USPS want to talk to a staff member. They are setting up systems to keep tax payers (who are mandated to provide financial support to the post office) from reaching their goal of contacting USPS. Don't be surprised when people react negatively to their goals being obstructed. This is how I deal with frustration. By writing. But most people choose other means, as we have seen.

Staff was very helpful providing me the materials and assistance to send out my international shipment. The woman processing my final shipment was patient and kind while she helped transfer my customs form from a written to a typed format. However, the process would have been a lot smoother if the post office had a printer available to customers, because I had the form's prepared prior to my visit but don't have a printer at home and was counting on being able to pay a small fee to print it out at the post office.
