Wagshal's Market is a beloved DC institution, known for its well-made and delicious sandwiches, including a notable Reuben. The market features a butcher shop with local meat, a BBQ section with takeaway, and a charcuterie counter with house-made items. Customers can compose their own sandwich from a good selection at the fresh counter. The market is well-stocked, offering holiday meal plates, fresh baked goods like croissants and cake, a gluten-free section, drinks, and flowers. There is also a pleasant terrace. Service is generally friendly, responsive, and helpful, with staff noted for going the extra mile. The market itself is described as cute with nice decoration. However, some prices, particularly for holiday meats, sides, and baked goods, are considered stratospherically high, which some long-time customers find discouraging. While pricing is on the higher side, the food is reliably fresh and tasty. Deliveries are reliable. On occasion, cashiers can be a bit standoffish. Overall, it is a highly recommended spot.
I had not been in here for quite a few years. I was pleasantly surprised by the fair prices and excellent service.

I normally stop here when I’m handling business nearby. I’ve been a few times and never had an issue. I always order a cold sandwich. My food is always fresh and taste pretty good. Most of the staff are very friendly. The prices are on the higher side but I guess it’s not horribly high.
