There are two things that I would like to address. First would be the total milage. According to your receipt I drove the car a total of 1531 miles in two days and that is not correct.
My total milage did not exceed 200 miles and all my driving was within the state of Delaware. Secondly, the engine /oil light came on on the day 2 so I was unable to complete all of my travel plans.
I am well aware that the rental car came with unlimited milage but the 1531 miles is not accurate.

I intended to return my rental car to Dover, DE, but accidentally selected JFK when booking. Even so, Hertz was terrible at helping me. The Dover office refused to accept the car due to a system error, and I spent multiple long calls with customer service (32, 29, 39, 21, and 23 minutes) who gave conflicting information. The local staff and phone agents disagreed, leaving me unable to return the car on time.
The original reservation was $97.02. Customer service proposed $145 to resolve the issue, but I was ultimately charged $531.60, including unexplained mileage and late return fees. Local staff and customer service could not explain or correct the charges.
Even though the booking mistake was mine, Hertz’s poor communication, conflicting instructions, and system failures made this rental a nightmare. I would not recommend renting from this location.

I had to exchange my rental car the day I was leaving for vacation. The car vibrated violently at speeds over 70 mph and when loaded. I had to interrupt my trip and exchange the car. Despite the incredible inconvenience, I received nothing in return—no money back, no compensation. It took me an additional 5 hours to reach my destination. The car I was originally given was extremely dirty, and I had to clean it myself. The second car I was given was a 2023 that looked like it had been through a war. This is the second time in the last year renting with Hertz where I had to conduct an exchange due to mechanical errors. I will not be renting again due to the excessive worry and stress. I cancelled my upcoming reservation due to this and will rent with another company. After years with hertz I just can’t keep going through the same motions.

I was skeptical of renting from this location because of all the bad reviews. But, at this point, I honestly think that the majority of bad reviews stem from people either not reading the fine print, or just being rude to the staff. My experience was great. I showed up shortly before my pick-up time and a nice clean car with a full tank of gas was ready to go. I returned the car on time, clean with a full of gas and was charged the exact amount of my reservation. Crazy how when you follow the rules, things tend to go as expected... The staff was GREAT. This is a busy location and the staff busts their behinds to make sure everybody is taken care of. Just a reminder - A little patience and understanding go a long way. Be kind.

Made a reservation for a cargo van only to arrive and one not be available. Two ladies inside were rude, unprofessional and seemed bother by the clients attempting to rent. I asked what I needed to do they said nothing because I was not signing a rental agreement so no charges would be applied. I spoke to customer service that day and they said they had no way of knowing what vehicles were where. But I would not be charged. 7 days later I was charged anyway by the location. A month later I was finally able to reach customer service and there is no record of my rental(because it didn’t happen) or the charges. Sounds like they have a scam going there at the South Dover location. Avoid at all cost. I have denied charges and will file suit if it turns out they were the ones who processed the charges.

Brought Vehicle that I rented in Philly that I thought needed service based off the change oil notification the vehicle displayed. They checked everything out and reassured that it wasn't due yet.

Life savers! India and Courtney were very helpful! I had a last minute reservation for same day and was able to help me out so I can travel back home. Their customer service is top notch and I will definitely be back here the next time I am in the area!

Trash, Sat there for 30 minutes just for the manager or whatever she is to tell me that because im not 25 that I can’t get the suv that I ordered a week ago and paid $500 for already, then the hoe tells me that I can’t get anything because they don’t have any cars left.. don’t even go here ain’t worth the time or hassle
I’ve been on the phone with hertz customer service for an hour and I can’t even connect with a person

We reserved a car for 1 pm. They closed at 12. So I rushed down and made it with 6 minutes to spare just to be told they didnt have anything for us.
Never again.
