Allstate Homeowners Insurance Review – A Frustrating & Unfair Experience
I’m very disappointed in how Allstate has handled my recent homeowners insurance claim, and I feel obligated to share my experience.
During a recent lightning storm, our central air unit was damaged — likely from a power surge or lightning strike. I filed a claim with Allstate right away, expecting fair treatment. Unfortunately, what followed was a long, stressful ordeal.
Just 10 days before the storm, my HVAC unit was professionally serviced and cleaned by a reputable company with multiple locations — nothing was wrong with it at that time. That same company returned twice after the damage occurred and confirmed the unit had been affected by an electrical event.
Allstate sent out their own investigator, who reportedly agreed with the HVAC company’s assessment. But somehow, that report got lost or “mixed up,” and I was told they couldn’t use it. A supervisor then said she would rely on the HVAC company’s findings instead — only to later reverse that decision without good reason, claiming she no longer agreed with their assessment. This flip-flopping felt unfair and unprofessional, especially considering this was a trusted, established HVAC business.
To make matters worse, the adjusters I dealt with were rude, dismissive, and lacked basic customer service. Despite the evidence and professional evaluations supporting my claim, Allstate ultimately denied it, calling the damage “wear and tear” — a claim that directly contradicts multiple expert opinions.
Even more frustrating, my air conditioning unit is only 9 years old and in mint condition. Yet, in another baffling mistake, the adjuster’s notes claimed it was 23 years old — a completely inaccurate and misleading detail that may have impacted their decision.
It’s now been weeks without air conditioning in the heat, and I’m left footing the bill for something I thought my homeowners insurance would cover. This entire process has felt like a battle rather than support during a time of need.
I trusted Allstate to be there when it mattered. Instead, I’ve been met with resistance, confusion, and zero accountability. I cannot recommend them based on this experience.

Update: love the response, Allstate; or shouod I say, William. I doubt that Cathy wrote the response. As if I would use an identifiable Google Account, so you could (and would) retaliate against an experienced customer speaking out about your practice. Nice try, but it seems I struck a nerve with you too. The only agenda I have is pointing out to others how much you steal from people, you crooks.
These companies are one of the biggest scams in this Country. Well over 10 years I've been with Allstate, no claims, no traffic violations either, and the same vehicle for several of those years now, and the rates forever go up. It is designed that way, so customers pay for all of the claims regardless of their involvement. The company profits exponentially, as a result. The industry is a shared interest, as all insurers push many to change companies; so that when you do switch to another insurer, they get to keep all of those premiums you paid for whatever length of time. Your vehicle depreciates in value, they charge you more. That's lobbying, folks, and you are not in good hands with Allstate either. Bunch of crooks. I stay because, not only have I maintained a premium policy with impeccable lack of claims history, my driving record is also to my credit, so that in the event of a major loss I will be collecting on the premiums I have paid to this company. They will likely argue and try to scam me further in such an event. In the meantime, they make up their own numbers. This should be criminal.

My Son referred William. We work with Cathy and she has been great. I would recommend this Company to anyone.Not to mention we have saved some money!

Purchased a new car on 1/7/21. Called Allstate late afternoon same day to put the new car on the policy and remove the car that was traded. I checked my email the next day 1/8/21. There was already the new policy listed with the cost along with the new card showing proof of insurance.I couldn't believe how quickly the changes were made. I am so happy that I chose William Heydt: Allstate Insurance to handle my insurance needs.

I have been with this Allstate location for 10 years and Cathy and William have given me excellent service and always friendly. If I have a problem big or small, they will always be there for me. I recommend them highly!

This is by far the best insurance agency I've had thus/wouldn't think of changing it while I still live in this area,no matter how many offers I get to switch (lol).Kathy is the best;she talks to you not like an insurance agent,but more like a friend she's known forever.
