BEWARE!!! My Aunt, who is a senior citizen, asked them to come to her property to do an ESTIMATE ONLY for $171 and then WITHOUT her permission or consent, this company withdrew $614 from her bank account without ever telling her. Police are now involved. Neither my Aunt or Uncle ever gave consent for any work or charges or had any knowledge...there was NO contract. This company LIED (seems to be common practice after reading some of these other reviews) & said they emailed my Uncle, whose name isn't even on the property deed. My Uncle never saw an email let alone spoke to them or gave consent for anything. The company manager is very RUDE and is REFUSING to give the money back to her. So unprofessional. Can you even imagine having money withdrawn from your bank account by a company and you never gave them permission to charge your account? There was NO contract to do any work because they didn't do ANY work. This was supposed to be for an estimate only! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! And definitely DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK CARD or CREDIT CARD INFO until work is finished. In fact, I would never use a debit card if you decide to go with them....use a credit card so if they do what they just did to my Aunt, you can go to your credit card company's fraud department to dispute charges. Also contacted the district attorney because my guess this isn't the first time this has happened. And the bank is investigating what they did as well.

I have used Custom Mechanical twice, once was for an unscheduled breakdown of my A/C unit over the summer. Called them and they send a technician to my house within 2 hours. Less than an hour later, they restored A/C service to my home. Signed up for their bi-annual preventive maintenance agreement, Danielle in Customer Service was prompt, polite and courteous in setting up the plan and scheduling the technician to come out for our first maintenance visit. Technician did a very thorough job and even offered some guidance on keeping my HVAC operating efficiently. Overall very pleased with Custom Mechanical's service and highly recommend them.

We came down to our condo in Ocean City, MD only to find a problem that had been on going for the last 4 years. Our thermostat was set at 60 degrees when we left right after the New Year. When we returned, a month later, I turned it up to 70 degrees, it wouldn't rise higher than 62 degrees. We thought we had it fixed in 2018 but it happened again in 2019. The contractor we hired then was from a large company that advertised their services under heating and air conditioning. When he came to look at it, the heater had already started heating and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. He told us he was really an electrician and didn't know much about our heater. The problem only occurred in the winter. And it didn't occur all the time. So we lived with it because we didn't know who to call considering the last contractor we called came from one of the larger companies in OC, MD. Well, we called Custom Mechanical and the technician, Keith, came out within 3 hours. He found the problem. Replaced a few items and we were warm again. The response time was great. Keith knew what he was doing. The unit was replaced in 2003 and considering that, I was expecting something like, well it's old and you should replace it. Nice to find someone who could fix the problem rather than try selling me a new unit. Custom Mechanical will be our go to Heat/AC repair company from now on.

We will never use any other company. Very honest, and punctual. Very thankful for the technician that came and let us know we did not have to replace our whole heat pump.

Stay away from this total scam of a company at all costs. They installed a new HVAC unit for us in 2018. In 2019 when we returned the Beach House the AC was blowing hot air, would not cool down. The company sent a technician out who put dye into the unit to try to find an obvious refrigerant leak, but upon coming back the next day claimed he could not find the leak. Thus, he filled it with refrigerant to "tie us" over at a cost of over $500. Well last weekend, early June 2020, we went back to open up the home for this summer and same issue, unit would not cool. We called them back and a new technician came out and found the leak and determined it needs a new coil. Total cost, $1339. That's now almost $2,000 in two years since putting a brand new $5,000 unit in. I called to argue this charge and Robert, "Customer Service Manager", was truly the rudest and most relentless A-hole I've ever come across in my life. He refused to admit that it was at all unreasonable to have to invest 40% of the cost of the unit within 2 years. A little hard to swallow when their customer service manager sounds like he has a third grade education at most. I found out their owner's name is Regan Roberts, but despite several requests, they refused to allow me to speak to her about this issue. I will stop at no ends to expose this fraud of a company!

In March 2018; a technician from Custom Mechanical made a visit to de-winterize our house in Bethany Beach, Delaware. On the day of the job, we received a call from the technician saying that a pipe had burst, and that there were eight inches of water underneath the house, and that the work could not be done with the water under the house. We were also told that the work could not be done FOR THREE WEEKS because of so many other houses they were contracted to de-winterize. What is the point of having a contract for de-winterization, if when the company finds a problem, doesn't fix it right then. This was true even though we had used this company for over 10 years. I would also point out that we were willing to pay for the repairs, if they would have fixed it upon discovering the problem. On top of that, they blamed us for the problem. Upon calling Custom Mechanical, and speaking to the manager, Robert Pachuta, we were told that someone must have turned on the water. So ...a technician comes from Custom Mechanical, and turns our water main (the one hidden way down in a pipe, that needs a special tool to turn on), and finds 8 inches of water under the house? Or, is it more probable that a technician turns on the water main and then heads out to lunch, and when he comes back finds 8 inches of water because when they closed the house before the winter they left some water in the pipe, which then froze over the winter?.....No one turned on the water over the winter, or even had the tool necessary to turn on the water. We ended up calling Megee Plumbing, who sent a technician out that day, who pumped out the excess water and fixed the damaged pipe. The technician told us that he found the copper pipe that had burst due to freezing, and that there is no way that the winterization was done in the proper manner. Just a fair warning about Custom Mechanical. Use at your own risk. The worst part is that not only did they not own up to their bad work; they were more than happy to leave 8 inches of water under our house for 3 weeks and lose a long-standing client in the process.
