When I first called, the person answering the phone seemed friendly enough and accommodating. I have a 1991 f 350, the old, non electronic diesel. I had a couple different things potentially happening. One, was an aftermarket turbo I had REBUILT and installed previously somewhere out of state but didnt seem to be functioning properly still and some slight overheating. When I suggested checking the fan clutch, bob, at the counter told me their computer would " pick that up". I challenged that politely but he assured me that it would. I thought maybe they had equipment I wasnt familiar with. So, I shrugged it off, but by now there were other things said that pointed to potential problems. I let them have a shot. In the beginning, shawn, the mechanic on my truck, seemed knowledgeable about my truck and even eager because he doesnt see that many of this type of diesel anymore. He took the turbo system off my truck and found that there were some holes in my y pipe exhaust that would've prevented the turbo from working properly. At this crossroads he said he could fix the existing, try to get parts from the turbo maker, or, get an entire new turbo. My choice. Careys was supposed to contact the manufacturer about replacement parts. Oh, before I forget, the "machine" they were supposed to have to test my fan clutch didnt exist, as shawn confirmed. Also, at this point, shawn indicated it took him about 4 hours to remove the turbo components off the truck. That's all they did. After waiting a week to hear about parts options, I went to their location to find that bob said there were no replacement parts available and the kit I need would be a full replacement and there were 3 different kits, the correct one would depend on which transmission I had so he couldn't get a price because he didnt know which transmission I had? If you're reading this, and following, I hope you realize THEY HAVE MY TRUCK AT THEIR SHOP at this time. For him to claim they dont know which trans I have? I mean who needs to know anymore about this location than that? But, theres more. And, shawn, who was pleasant before, for some reason didnt seem interested at all in dealing with the truck now at this point for some reason. And, from the time I left the truck to this point I had no other communication with them. In other words I wasn't bothering them or being one of those pesky customers. My guess is, they're more interested in working on commercial account equip/ heavy diesel etc. Which is fine, it's their business, they can choose what work they want, id just rather they told me that upfront. Here's the last part of it. There have been no embelishments in this review. They removed my turbo components and changed a fuel filter. THATS ABSOLUTELY all they did. When I decided to take the truck back into my possession, they tried to charge me 10.75 hours!! And, as a departing bonus, which I didnt catch until after I left because of foul weather and just simply wanting to be done with them, not only did they remove my turbo, but for some reason they DISASSEMBLED the actual turbo into parts, making the $1600 rebuild essentially scrap. There was no reason to do this. Absolutely none. Choose who youd like for diesel repair, but I know what I know about careys diesel now.

Most knowledgeable people and staff. Honest, brutally. If you are the kind of person who likes it straight from people who know, you just found the perfect place.

Do not go to these people! Most of the important things I needed repaired, they couldn't do. But they could replace 2 fuses and a wire and look at the 5th wheel, no repair done on that, and charge me $911! Robbers! Patty at the desk was wonderful, but the owner's wife was just clueless. "The bill is what the bill says." Could not justify the 8.44 hours labor they are charging. Parts were $11 for 2 fuses, $60 for environmental fee's and almost $900 in labor!!!!! Seriously??? They caved and brought it down to $634, but still have no idea why it was even that much. BIG LESSON LEARNED! Going back Peak.

NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE! CHARGED ME $900 to replace 2 fuses and a wire on an APU. 2 Hours labor to look at a 5th wheel. Was told the 5th wheel was too small for the truck! Well, it is the one that came with the truck. Outrageous! Patty was wonderful to deal with at the desk. Finally reduced bill to $637, but that was a long argument. Owners wife tried to rationalize this bill to me, but she really had no answers. I can't tell you how their work is because they only replaced 2 fuses and a wire. But just looking at your vehicle will cost you dearly. Don't use these people!!!!

I have known and done business with John Carey for 40 years. I consider him a friend as well as a business associate. In all cases our dealings have been very satisfactory. I was saddened to read some of the postings regarding his policies. I can only say that in my 53 years in the diesel service business, his insistence on cash before launching a boat repair job comes, I think, from a lifetime of bad checks, disappearing boats and owners. I could write a book on that subjec

I like that they took me in so easily but I feel as though I got messed over financially. They charge me $3k to trouble a electrical wiring problem they created, specifically John-the owner. He wouldn't fess up to it and made me pay for his mistake.
