These folks have done my taxes for the last few years since I spent some time in Lewes. Gary and his team always seem to make the numbers add up to less than nothing. Further, they never have a single point of contact (SPOC); and, critically, they never explain the return to their customer. Rather, they wait for questions and act annoyed when they come (no one more than Gary Progar). I highly recommend you find another tax preparer.

If I could leave a review with 0 stars I would. Unfortunately I can't, so Progar is inaccurately getting a 1 star review from us. I don't think Google Review will allow for the characters needed in order for me to articulate our complaint in detail. So I will say this- Our families (multiple immediate and extended family members)have been filing their personal and business taxes thru Progar for almost 30 years. None of us have ever had a complaint until now. We've had nothing but positive things to say about this small business until now. Us and several family members have referred many people to Progar over the years for their accounting needs.. However, after what occurred for the 2023 tax filing season involving their Lewes office/staff we will be filing our taxes elsewhere moving forward. If you're going here or thinking about going here, beware. We strongly encoirage you have every little interaction with their office in documented in writing. If its a phone call or a verbal discussion and you don't have receipts you are asking this office to take you for a ride. And take you for a ride they will. They should have shirts made up that read- Deny deny deny, lie lie lie #2023taxfilingseason.

Martha particularly has been nothing but wonderful to me since utilizing Progar for payroll. She's extremely kind and helpful with any questions I've had, and seems to always have a bubbly, positive attitude.

total ripoff. One w-2, no itemizations ...$449? Wow. I have never paid more than $175 for a simple return. This was absurd

Good company with very helpful staff. We've been to other PA's that had our taxes owed a bit out of touch with, what we thought, reality. Progar was able knock the amount owed down by a considerable amount. Have used Progar going on decade. Very pleased. Both small businesses and personal taxes.

Although the staff were a pleasure to work with, their tax protocol for business filing is not in the benefit of small business interests. Operating at a near 0 profit margin, tax debit still was mounting. We inquired with several business associates only to be advised that the gross sales couldn't possibly incur the lofty tax levels. We took everything to another PA and they were in shock. The new PA was able to rectify 3 years but we were stuck with 2 years that to this day in this economy has been difficult to pay down. Additionally when we called Progar to express our disappointment, and we requested a refund for the most recent filing as it had been corrected and filed by another PA. We were refused a refund. And to add insult to the unconscionable injury, even though we dropped the payment in the mail asap, a small claim suit was filed against us while the payment was in the postal system. It would be apparent that they file with the IRS at best interest versus the best available options provided by the IRS in the small business interests. We haven't the need to apply for credit but in recent days we have at which time the small claims filing shows on our credit report. This company can be unscrupulous if you point out their errors in any way.
