“As a faculty member at The University of Delaware, my family and I have been staying at The Virden Center several times a year for forty years. The buildings are now slightly ramshackle, but they offer everything we need for short (2-5 day) stays. They are also reasonably priced, blessedly quiet, and situated in a verdant meadow where we can see deer, foxes, swamp birds, and very few other humans. The Center is just a mile or so from Route 1, which can be crazy busy in the summer with drivers hell bent on shopping at the outlets. The staff at the Virden Center for all these years have treated us with informal, gracious affection, making our stays safe and comfortable.”

“We had our daughter’s wedding at the Event Center and we couldn’t be happier. From the tour to the tastings to the pre event meeting, the staff was awesome. Even when they had a complete staff change in the middle of the planning, Lighthouse Cove handled it with care and the new staff hit the ground running. We felt very taken of. From my first meeting with Alexia Kendzierski I knew we were in good hands. She have us great ideas for the special day, helped with day of timing and met our every need. On the logistical end, Joe Payne was a lifesaver. He helped me set up the outdoor sign, fixed my seating chart flimsiness and generally made sure we were well taken care of. Ashlee Martinelli, Sofie Trupo, Lauren and Hannah Jackson rounded out the excellent team and we so appreciate all their efforts on our behalf and for calming my nerves a few times. The ballroom was gorgeous, the deck was amazing, the cocktails were delicious and the food was some of the best we ever had. Our guests are still raving about the event! Thank you to everyone who made this day the wedding of my daughter and her husband’s dreams. It truly was the perfect day.?”
