The Middletown Family YMCA in Delaware is a facility offering a variety of programs for families, youth, and individuals. It features state-of-the-art fitness facilities, group exercise classes, and indoor and outdoor pools. The location provides childcare, summer camps, community events, and public pickleball courts. The place is generally cleaned and maintained well, with clean pools and vigilant attendants. Many members report a warm, friendly welcome and a true feeling of community, with staff described as extremely helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and kind. There is a wide range of equipment and activities available. However, some members note a lack of community feeling despite the programs and people. The circuit area has limited equipment, and machines can be occupied for extended periods. The pickleball scene can feel hierarchical and cliquish. Some concerns involve unruly, rowdy teens with a perception of insufficient staff intervention, and inappropriate behavior has been noted in locker rooms, which can also have ventilation issues. While many find the facility nice and recommend it for a healthier lifestyle, others feel the premium membership cost is not always worth the experience due to these drawbacks.
Nice big new gym. Plenty of weightlifting equipment in a well-lit and ventilated space on the second floor. The pool has a splash pad for kids. There are free lockers to put your stuff in while you exercise. Great facility overall.
