Shells Recreation Center offers a nurturing and stimulating atmosphere where children thrive. From the moment we walk in, the staff's dedication to creating a safe and welcoming environment is evident. Miss Nay, Em, and Michelle consistently go above and beyond, not only ensuring the children's physical safety but also nurturing their emotional well-being.
The facility itself is well-maintained and equipped with age-appropriate toys and activities that encourage learning and development. Whether it's arts and crafts, outdoor play, or group activities, there's always something engaging for the children to participate in.
What sets Shells Recreation Center apart is the individualized attention each child receives. The staff takes the time to understand each child's unique personality and needs, fostering a sense of belonging and confidence.
As a parent, it's incredibly reassuring to know that my daughter is not only well-cared for but also genuinely enjoys her time at daycare. I've noticed significant progress in her social skills, language development, and overall confidence since she started attending.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with our experience at Shells Recreation Center. It's more than just a daycare; it's a place where children are loved, nurtured, and given the opportunity to flourish.

I was a teacher at Shell's Learning Center in Milton. It felt more like family because the owners and Administrators always make their employees feel important and appreciated. I left to futher my education and was congratulated and made welcome to come back. Everytime I come back to work on my off days I'm greeted and welcomed as though I never left. This is a great Learning Center and one of the best that I've ever worked at. I love the children and their smiles and hugs. They are loved and educated by the staff and I love that they are first priority in Shell's Centers. There are so many community events that the children and staff are included in. Ms. LeChelle is definitely a blessing to each community that her centers serve.

Save yourself money and headache. Absolutely a disgusting facility. Theres no learning going on. Go in anytime before parents start picking up its the adults around talking and on their phones and the kids running around doing whatever. We were there for almost a year because daycares were so backed up and it was the most stressful time for my baby and us as parents.

My son was at Shell's for almost a year. (Infant room) It was honestly the most stressful time! There were multiple times I would get phone calls to pick my child up because he was crying and because they said he had a fever. The times they called and said he had a fever I picked him up and took him around the corner 2 minutes away to his doctor. The doctor informed me that there was no way he had a fever. When I addressed this with a director I was told they changed out thermometers and it was probably because of the clothes he was wearing (Not a thing by the way). The facility is not the cleanest. My baby was coming home with black hands, black feet, and black socks (if he had socks on at all). Numerous times I witnessed babies getting into the trash cans or eating other kids food off of the floor. After my son turned one he should've been in the 1 year room, however, because he wasn't walking they kept him in the infant room. Comments were constantly made to me about me babying him and that's why he wasn't walking. The times he was in the 1 year room I could tell the teacher/s were frustrated with my son. I witnessed a few times teachers being a tad too harsh to the 1 or 2 year olds. I constantly felt like the adults in the center did not like my son or were frustrated because he wasn't walking or talking. When my son turned 1 I saw a breakfast/lunch menu maybe 3 times total. They would close the facility completely or half day for things like parades. I'm sorry but parents have to work and some of the staff could've finished the day. Developmentally I DO NOT recommend this facility, however, if you want an overpriced baby sitter than this place is it.Ms. Jay was amazing! Loved her and she's easy to talk to. A couple of the infant teachers were awesome too.I'm not saying this place is completely terrible. There are lots of great people here, but it does seem like there is too much turnover, too much frustration and there needs to be more training. It is so hard to find daycare in Sussex County and unfortunately we had no choice but to wait to find another place that had an opening.Since my son has been at a new daycare for the past 2 weeks I see a completely different child. Hes talking, almost walking, happier and eating so so much!

Back in May (2023) shortly after I graduated, I began working here. The kids were great! There wasn't really anything necessarily wrong with the way the daycare was ran. The kids loved me and everything so this review is in no way my fault. For 99% of my time there, the staff were very nice and respectful towards me. There were a few employees who didn't always seem the nicest. I did, however, only work one shift because of reasons I don't need to share. A couple days after this shift, a call came through basically explaining that my government background check (or whatever its called) had not come through yet, which means I wasn't even supposed to be working yet. I was told I would receive another call once I was able to come back. I believe I waited at least a week and some change for a call. By this point I had begun looking for other jobs because I was in need of money. When I finally did receive the call, I let her know that I was going to stop working there and seek employment elsewhere. When originally hired, it took her at least 2 weeks to set up orientation (I was told a few days). After all this, I have yet to be paid for orientation or the shift I worked. I was being paid $13 an hour. My shift was from 11:00am to 5:30pm. I was at orientation for at least 2 1/2 hours. My pay should've at least been around 70 or 80 dollars and orientation should've been at least $30. Overall, I would not recommend working here if you aren't seeking long term employment.
