Wilmington Division of Motor Vehicles

Hours: The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles is generally seen as a place that can handle a high volume of visitors efficiently, especially if visits are planned carefully. Many reviewers mention that the staff are kind, knowledgeable, and willing to help, making the process smoother and more pleasant despite the often long lines. One staff member, in particular, received praise for being professional, patient, and efficient, turning what can be a stressful experience into a more enjoyable one. Some visitors experienced quick service, such as getting a handicap sticker in minutes or receiving a new driver’s license on the same day, especially during less busy times. However, wait times can vary significantly depending on the day and time of visit. For example, arriving on a busy Wednesday afternoon or near the end of the month can result in long waits of over an hour, while visiting during slower hours can make the process much quicker. The DMV's hours are limited, and lines inside can be long, which some find frustrating. Still, many appreciate the DMV’s capacity to handle high traffic smoothly and recognize that, compared to other states, Delaware DMV offers a good experience overall.
