Absolutely one of the worst places to get you Roland from these people are clueless, heartless vampires on the student loan industry

I wish I could give this place a 0 because they are ruining my life and many others. Sallie Mae are predators. They have done nothing but harassed me and increase my student loans while I was still in school and during Covid. My loan went up 33% with an interest rate of 14.75%. Do NOT apply for anything with this awful company. Shame on them. They are absolutely atrocious.

Worst corporation ever, currently litigating against them. They hold that they can take your loan out of deferment the second you sign their contract, even if you are in school. Biggest loan sharks and crooks on the planet, stay away at all costs.

Worst lender in history. No compassion or understanding. When I called to make acceptable atrangements, we set up a plan, but then they decided they wanted to cancel it because they can. Honest advice: use any other private company, government lending agency or bank for educational help. They don't care about the customer at all. It's all about how much money they can extract. I constantly tell everyone I know how awful they are and I'm really hoping it ruins them since I work with lots of students attending a major university. If I ever had the money, I would buy this company and shut it down immediately for all the stress and suicides they cause.

I wish this company would put more than $3 into their customer service representatives. I can understand nobody that speaks due to terrible quality, everyone gives me attitude, I am put on hold for extended periods of time, and nothing every gets resolved. This company is an abysmal. I called because I could not afford my monthly payment, and they told me that I do not make enough money to have a lower monthly payment. How does that make sense?

Sallie Mae WILL NOT allow us to term our grace period (ends in August 2025) in order for us to refinance at a much lower interest rate. It's a shame they are taking advantage of students in this manner.

I have student loans with this company. Now that I am trying to pay them back, I called because the payments were too hard. They enrolled me into a program that would have all my loans on auto pay at a much lower rate so that I could survive. While I am more than appreciative of this, they have failed to send this information to any other departments. Now both I, and my cosigners are getting called multiple times a day by multiple different agents telling me my loans are past due when Sallie Mae has already confirmed with me that due to my program they would not consider anything past due and pull everything up to date. They are not doing this, I am still getting harassed by phone calls, and emails saying I'm past due, and when I call it takes 3 hours to reach someone who can confirm that my program is good and I'm not going to be past due. Then the cycle repeats, and the best answer I get is, "Well eventually it will stop. Eventually it'll register. We guranteee this won't affect your credit." Why am I getting harassed day and night when you've already told me it's okay? It's literally causing my wife mental anxiety at this point.

Horrible loans that I’ll probably never fully pay off but Beth O’connor was really good at helping out with a current financial situation. Don’t ignore them and they’ll work with you!

Would not recommend. If you lost your job they don’t care, if you face any hardship, they don’t care at all. They took me out of a program which was about $130 something but after I lost my job they removed me from the program. The program was designed to help me make payments but at a lower rate but after I wasn’t able to make payments m, they took me out of the program which made my payments go back up. Now you may wonder why would they do that if I already wasn’t able to make the higer payments before the program ?? They aren’t for the people nor do they try to help or assist so beware and do your research before hand.

So, I have just spent two hours chasing my tail with their customer service as they have hiked my interest rate and now expect me to pay them over $1,000 every month. A terrible and terrifying organization that will drain you of every penny. Simply not worth it. Try and find an organization to work at that has tuition reimbursement as a benefit. Go to a cheaper college for undergraduate, get a scholarship, make connections, stay with friends and family, take a part-time or full-time job - but don't, for the love of God, take a loan out with Sallie Mae. They are crooks.

Student loans interest rates should not climb up to 14.375%!

Sallie Mae will double charge you for your loan payment and refuse to refund even though you unwillingly paid double in a single month. Incrediblely high interest rates and finance fees. Terrible customer service, they do not have proper training to offer real support and are exceedingly rude. I do not know how this company is still in business and would seek legal aid if you have current issues with them.

If I were you (you'll probably see this way too late) but I would never and I mean never ever ever take out student loans from Sallie Mae. If I could go back to my freshman year when I took out this loan, because I needed to summer school, I honestly would have just dropped out. These people will harass you to death. It will mess up your credit and interest starts the day to take out the private loan. When I get $10,000 from selling a home I swear it going straight to them so they can leave me the f*** alone. Don't take it out don't do that to your self. Take a semester off take a year off figure out your finances and then go back to school but do not take out a loan with sallie mae

If there was a no star rating, that's what I would choose. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST BANK I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. I had a student loan financed through this bank. I sent in a pay off check with the settlement amount (that I received from a SM operator). I dated it that day and sent it! 10 days later they received the check. THEN THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO TELL ME I STILL OWED BEC THE AMOUNT CHANGES PER DAY. That would mean no one can ever settle up?? They're just trying to hang on to business. They can shove it. I have a 7 year history with you, and I have never missed or been late on a payment, then you try to tell me a pay off Amount isn't enough??? Absurd! You will not be receiving another dime from me, and I will never finance through you again, nor recommend this bank to anyone!!!! YOU ARE THE ONLY BANK THAT DID NOTHING TO HELP DURING COVID HARDSHIPS, EXCEPT INCREASE YOUR INTEREST. WORST BUSINESS ever! I don't know how this bank is even still getting customers.
