Just tried to donate a huge bag of baby clothes and they refused them! I never heard of such a thing! They didn’t even give the moms an option to see what they wanted or did not want! Do better Bayard House! Hire better staff that actually care about the moms and babies because why are y’all turning away baby items? The Birthright Center was beyond grateful

Not a great place to reside at. The program wants control of your food benefits and wic benefits, but when it comes to meeting your goals or has anything to do with you progressing and getting out the bad situation you are in, they do not help with anything. Shelters come with rules and regulations. and I understood that. But the bayard house is literally a pointless shelter standing at this point. the rules and regulations didn’t make sense, their so strict on abiding by rules, but some of the staff members here broke the rules their self on things they were trying to force the residents to abide to. everybody has their own opinion and way of living, but the bayard house never had food there, which I also did not understand because each resident that had food benefits and wic benefits had to give up and it was a total of 8-9 residents in the shelter including children. Another big thing, was cleanliness, the bayard house was dirty, because of the other residents that lived here, they left period blood on the toliet seats, pads in the bathroom on the floors rather then the trash, unwashed dishes in the sink, they left the showers and tubs dirty. and a few other things I don’t feel like naming. But yes, think twice about residing here. It’s other programs out here that can give you the help you need without having to take your benefits away and still leaving you hanging.

I stayed here back in 1994. It was a great place back then. I had my own room on the top floor. It was calm and quiet. Never any drama between the residents. We all got along. The staff was very respectful and always willing to help. Seeing all of the bad reviews here in 2020 is very shocking to me. We had free reign of the kitchen and bought our own food. We cooked when we got hungry. There was a curfew and there were rules. Just like every other establishment like this. Sad to hear it's come to this?

Horrible place my girlfriend was here while she was pregnant and they took her food stamps and wick. They made her walk to school pregnant while she was cramping horribly and wouldn’t let her do anything without documentation. She left to go to the hospital for medical needs and they called the police on her filing a missing persons report. Very disrespectful when she decided to leave they would not help her with anything down 2 flights of stairs

Just weigh your options. Ask questions about everything before you decide to move in. You do get your own room tho. Your opinions aren't valued or allowed at Bayard House. If you move here just keep your head down don't talk to anyone and do what you have to do to get out. If your someone who doesn't take criticism or some rudeness to well this place it not for you. Your not there to be comfortable they say, but are you there to feel belittled , criticized or feel like you don't have support. Not saying its all bad theres good days, theres just bad too.

If I could give this place negative 5 stars I would! This place is nothing but issues and miserable people. My stay there only lasted 3 1/2 months . They take your food stamps and wic. The manager ms.kim was the most disgusting human being I have ever came in to contact with, she’s disrespectful and did not treat me or anyone else in a respectful way. The staff were just as disrespectful, acting as though you were under them. I was told to leave because I was in college all day and couldn’t always provide the documentation saying where I was throughout the day. When I told her that my mother was out of town and wouldn’t be back until the next day to help me move my things out she told me my things could stay until the morning but I was put out at 11 pm at night with nowhere to go PREGNANT! I was lucky after wandering around for a hour that a friend could pick me up. I will still be following legal precautions against the bayard house for mental and emotional abuse.

I hope there is someone reviewing these comments and being responsible in following up with folks. It is sad when the place you go for help and support is the cause of your pain and dilemma. Be careful to voice your concerns by putting it in writing and sending it to the proper people that can assist you in making a difference.

Their supervisor walked in on me when i had no clothes on even after I told her how uncomfortable it made me feel her response was that she'd make a staff stand in my room all day while I was nude she didn't care
