After visiting my father who is a resident if Gilpin Hall on a Saturday morning, l stopped in the liquor store to buy a couple of lottery tickets The cashier was so nice and pleasant I surely eould return on my next visit to my father. Well this time on Wednesday 8/2/2023 @6:45 pm there was a cashier wearing a Turban will a extremely negative attitude. Oh my goodness he was very rude and arrogant. He attempted to speak at me not to me. I noticed he did the same to all the customers that were minority. I did not raise my voice rather I stayed calmed and asserted my intelligence: by speaking slowly, directly and calmly to this rude disrespectful man. Sad to say I will not patronize this establishment again because of the encounter I had. If people are encountering such types of disrespect and the hostile behavior just stop shopping there, I for one will not be back.

Will NEVER return, which is disappointing because they are well-stocked, clean, and affordable. Really upset by the misogynistic attitude of the cashier. I had gone on a walk to the Cool Spring farmers' market and just bought a couple bucks. I decided to stop to buy GINGER BEER (you know...the non-alcoholic soda). When I got to the counter, the cashier basically wanted me to empty my pockets because he refused to believe I didn't have an ID, berated me, and condescendingly treated me as though I was a little girl who couldn't read even as I returned the soda to the shelf and left the store. I'm sorry, but I've never been ID'd before in a liquor store for buying soda or ice, and if this actually is a Delaware law, just explain it politely without being a raging j****

My wife found a wheel chair customer outside the store in almost 100 degree weather. She is a regular customer of Gilpin. Paul the owner would not let her stay in the store for a few minutes to cool off. My wife who is black, confronted Paul about the cruel treatment and gave him a well deserved tongue lashing. Now Paul has banned her from the store also. Paul is not a good neighbor and seems very racist. If you’re black or handicapped, go the extra distance to Krestons where you will get courteous service and save a few bucks in the process. He does not deserve the community’s business.

Paul is a great guy and I love to support him. Unfortunately I’ve had to limit my patronage because the cashier has been saying really inappropriate things to me about my appearance, now on two occasions. I swore after the first time I wouldn’t go back, and didn’t for months. I was in a pinch last week and figured I’d give it another shot, and was shocked that he doubled down on his remarks. Sadly I won’t be back.

I live right down the street and the gentleman at the counter has been rude to both me and my wife. It is really sad because we live in a really great neighborhood with really kind neighbors. I have read multiple reviews about this guy's attitude so I guess it is what it is. They do have a good selection, are always well stocked and clean. However yelling at customers is a surefire way to lose business. They have definately lost our business.

Whose of all places I've been in my life. The young man who works there is so very mean ignorant and rude.. I have had a couple problems with him recently. He will only let me play my lottery 1 night at a time. Thats wrong. Then yesterday he wouldn't let me play lottery at all because he had better things to do. I asked him was machine down he said no. I got to stack my shelves. I only play 4 numbers. It was like 2 pm. I had to walk to another location. Called De. Lottery to report him. But nothing can change his rudeness... This Dude has a terrible attitude...
