The Jack A Markell Trail is a scenic and peaceful trail between Wilmington and New Castle. It is a safe walking and biking trail right next to the water, offering spectacular views, fresh air, and a serene canopy of trees. The trail is about 5.5 miles long one way, with a round-trip of about 15 miles. It features a blend of boardwalk over marshland and paved sections, making it mostly flat and of easy-to-moderate difficulty. It is a very scenic, beautiful, and peaceful place for exercise, described as a perfect wellness getaway. Visitors enjoy walking, jogging, riding bikes, and walking pets. The trail connects to the historic small town of New Castle and to the Wilmington riverfront. It can be busy at times, and morning rides are recommended for the most peaceful experience. The trail is also decorated with festive lights during the holidays, creating a perfect escape. It is considered a must-visit in Delaware.
Great trail that is 10 miles roundtrip, pretty for a jog or bike ride.
