Beware!!! This company bought the storage facility where I rented a storage unit for 15 years. My credit card was hacked and because a new number was issued, the payment was denied. The previous management would have placed a notice on the unit immediately when the card was denied. We came and went from the unit during the time between the denied payment and the date of the auction. People’s Choice did not place a notice on my unit until 7 days before the auction and after they had racked up astronomical fees!!! This is unethical and unconscionable!!! Now my wedding dress and children’s infant clothing are in the hands of a stranger!!!

I wish I could give negative stars. Because I can't I was forced to give one star. I rented from this company just shy of two years. I started with them before they changed ownership. They were initially called Alachua self storage. The only positive that I can say about them is that they were convenient in terms of location. I had a climate controlled unit which never seemed to cool properly. I had to ask them to clean the blood from the inner door on more than one occasion. About a month later it was finally cleaned. There was always an abundance of roaches and spiders webs. I hoped things would get better but alas they never did. I recently received a notification about the change in ownership. Now asking for renters insurance or an additional $10 for a measly $2000 coverage. If you have renters insurance then the fee is waived with proof. I do have renters insurance because My belongings have a total value of over $10,000, so I could have had that waived. This fee for others who don't have insurance only seems to cover the cost of the unit should something happen to the new companies precious units. The former owners never required this... more of a money grab in my opinion. I had been thinking for sometime about leaving this facility for another however most of the nicer facilities were always full. With the change in management my gut feeling is things were not going change for the better. I had encounters with the rude office staff from the previous team. I decided to vacate yesterday. I called the office to inform them that the unit was empty. I expected to have the fee I had just paid to be prorated..... GUESS WHAT? I was told if I had vacated the day before I would have received a refund. It's funny that I was 2 days into the billing cycle. Most "REPUTABLE" companies work on a prorated system. This company appears to have been around a while so I would have expected them to work with me. The person on the phone had the nerve to say if I ever needed them again to please contact them. It will be a cold day in you know what before I ever use compass storage who operates under a parent company. I wonder if the parent company knows how "shady" this location is. There welcome letter has the nerve to say our new management looks forward to continuing to provide excellent customer service. Which I've never received. I wish them nothing but failure. Negative word of mouth travels fast. Renter beware!!!!

No problems. I used a 10x20 to store my extra vehicle. The price was right and owners were very responsive.
