Best friend chicken. Great staff in the deli and all through the store. Competitive prices for above average groceries.

I am giving this grocery store 3 stars because the service that was provided was immaculate. We had several questions as to where items were and the stockers helped promptly. I am deducting 2 stars because of how dirty it was inside. It felt like a run down piggly wiggly. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but it's definitely not a Publix. If you plan to head to the grocery store and there is a Hitchcock's near by- it'll provide you with what you need including convenience.

We are a small town pharmacy that has been serving our community for many, many years! We beat most competitors cash prices and we provide fast, friendly service! We are located inside our beautiful Hitchcock's Markets grocery store, and we would be honored to serve you and your family like you are one of our family!

Avoid this place at all cost. I used Hitchcock's as a place to get one or two items. EVERY TIME the cashier screws up my debt card. I'm not sure if its a cashier error OR their system, but when the cashier first enters my debt card, the transaction is always declined. Then the cashier runs it again, and unless I take money out, the transaction doesn't go through. The problem is the first transaction always post on my bank account as going through and payment received . So now I just paid for the items twice until I call my bank and get it corrected. All the while, I get a ton of attitude from the young cashier that my card is declined. Again, I only used this third world store for only a couple of items, never again- I'm done with Hitchcock's of Newberry. Photo is a screen shot of my bank account showing Hitchcock's posted the original amount that was said declined, which was actually posted as money withdrawal for purchase, then same amount with $5 debt withdrawal approval was the transaction was entered a second time by the cashier. Called bank to get the declined amount credited back (green amount) on bank register.

Went to Hitchcock's recently as part of a visit to a store next door. I have been to this grocery store numerous times in the past, though I do not live in the area, and before I have always found that their selection was quite good. However, things have changed. The main entrance is located relatively near the bakery, and unfortunately I was hit with an odor that was... not pleasant. Not nasty, mind you... it was tolerable... but also not nice. It wasn't the smell of freshly baked bread or anything like that... it was more like someone had tried baking cabbage or something. Gone are the wonderful racks of international products. I used to count on Hitchcock's to have these sorts of things, but no longer. I looked down other aisles for them, but they are not to be found. Instead I found relatively generic items that you will find in any grocery store in the nation. I also had to use the bathroom. The bathrooms need some work, and entering them means you are going into the back stockroom area of the store, which is dimly lit and not a very presentable environment. I mean, I get it... the stock area doesn't have to be pretty because it is a relatively industrial area, but when you have customers going into that area in order to relieve themselves, it should be presentable. Now, that being said, I did find their meat section to be quite good, and I picked up a steak at a reasonable price that was quite good once I got it home and cooked it.

What used to be an AWESOME Small Community (Mom & Pop) Grocery Store has turned to crap! Management lets check-out lines back up with 6-8 customers waiting while employees stand around. If the store hours say open to 9:00pm then it should be well stocked and in FULL operation till 9:00. I've been a Loyal Hitchcock's customer for YEARS but every time I go in to shop it seems to get worse!
