Negative 5 stars I give them for customer service! Rudest and most unprofessional customer service I ever received!!! I went into the Dollar General store in the City of Alachua in the afternoon of 1/26/2025. I went there to return a wrong-size pet bed and a litter box that one of my family members who purchased the merchandise right before the new year of 2025. A skinny African-American woman cashier raised her voice and said to me: the pet bed was full of pet hair, it had been used. This was a fault statement on Full of Hair! I explained to her that my family did not know the size of the cat and purchased the merchandise. We put the cat into the pet bed and found out it was too small for it. The cat did not even stay in it for 10 seconds and ran away. It would get a few hairs but never use them after the try. I asked her to consult with her manager. The cashier then started texting. It looked like she was approved to take the merchandise back. She started processing the refund. During the process, she said again: next time, you can’t return things after used them. I explained to her again that set never been used since they were the wrong size, but I did put the cat into the pet bed to check for fit and the cat did not even stay in it for 10 sec. She said, I don’t care! I said, yes you do care. Then, she suddenly dumped my merchandise from the cashier countertop to the floor, and yelling: I am not giving you the refund. I asked her: why? You got approved to take the goods back. She started high voice and became fussy, then required me to leave the store, and threatened me that she would call the P.D.
I went back to the store again on Sunday, the second day after. I wanted to get these products returned and have a chance to talk to a store manager about what happened and how I felt about the service from yesterday. I saw the same skinny African-American woman cashier and a middle-aged white woman cashier working in the cashier area. When I followed with the service line towards the white cashier, she looked at me, immediately shake her head, and said she had just off her shift and would not be able to serve me. I told her that I need help and need to talk to the store manager. The skinny A.A. cashier then pointed me to the white cashier and told her that I was the one who came in yesterday for the return. Then, the white cashier claimed herself that she is the store manager. She said she had watched the recorded store video from yesterday. I asked her had she found out who raised the voice first and threw my merchandise to the floor, and refused a refund. The white cashier did not answer my questions but changed the subject, said I threw the merchandise at her. OMG! How dear she could make up a such fault statement like that! I tried to explain but she then called the P.D and asked me to leave. I did not say any heavy words at her, before she locked me out, I told her the store customer service level is ZERO. She retorted: you too.I walked out the store, she closed the store doors immediately. I saw she and the skinny cashier were standing at behind the glass entrance door, the white one crossing her arms in front of her chest, laughing at me with a winner's face behind the glass doors. I took out my phone and took pics of them, then the white one turned her back around to hide her face, but you can see the skinny one's face. They asked the police to give me a No Trespass Order. Was that necessary? Did I deserve it? Do I care about the No Trespass Order? No! I am never a fan of the store brand.
Two bad eggs ruined the entire store brand to the public. These two did not have customer service concepts and skills.
I have found this store has the lowest service feedback compared to the other two stores on HWY 441 in Alachua. I’m not surprised.
I found out after, the white woman isn’t the manager of the store. I was surprised that she had the guts to claim for a position she doesn’t deserve.

I would give no stars if I could. The store was unkempt. No shopping carts the employees were not friendly.

This store is constantly closed early well before the posted time. Just drove all the way there arrived at 9:15pm to find that it's closed and blocked off. Tried to call and phone is off the hook. There is vehicles there so employees but no one actually serving customers. This isnt the first time and I'm sure it won't be the last.

This particular Dollar General is located on the corner of NW 142 Terrace and US 441. It is a typical Dollar General with the usual dolla store merchandise.

Always under staffed. Extremely slow with customer service. Very limited inventory. Store is cluttered and messy with unstocked inventory. Just terrible. Dollar General, what you put the few employees you do have through, absolutely terrible. The few staff you have are great. Get it together Dollar General. Do better as a company. Shame.

I called to check stock and was told they had the item I was looking for, I drove from high springs and when I arrived I was told they did not have any in stock at all. Not helpful, very disappointing.

The store is an older building. There is stuff EVERYWHERE. It is hard to figure out which section your looking for because it feels as though they have a little of everything in every isle. Now it could be the size of the store is smaller than the newer buildings. The staff was very pleasant.
