This tax year was not a good year. I dealt with Michelle, who didn’t exemplify very good customer service. I called her to ask her assistance for an online payment, and she told me she couldn’t, because she was busy doing taxes. I have never heard of a professional refusing to assist a client before. I will NEVER go to her again. After that episode, I have dealt with tax professionals and the IRS only for them to give me the runaround. But with my persistence, I was finally able to get someone out there that was able to help me with my simple question. These days professional customer service is greatly lacking.???

I hope my experience will help the staff improve for future customers. We scheduled online in advance for our appointment and uploaded all our documents. We were assigned to a tax preparer named Peter. We looked him up online and saw he had a ton of experience and were looking forward to the appointment. We confirmed with the office in advance and let them know all our documents were uploaded.Upon arrival to the office, we found out our appointment was going to be with someone else. She struggled through our appointment, told me multiple times she was not used to the "new program" on the computer. She struggled with our basic forms (W-2s, 1099s), and had to ask for assistance a few times. It was obvious she was unfamiliar with our documents and struggled to find basic info on each page. I had to correct 4 errors on our return that she made before we finally decided to speak to the manager and end the appointment. As we prepared to leave, our preparer spoke up and said she was a first year and was not comfortable preparing our tax return. I wish she had been upfront with this and we could have rescheduled with another tax associate before wasting an hour of our time. The manager apologized.We ended up canceling our return with H&R Block and will be using a different service for our taxes. I hope this can be a teaching moment for this office because we had a horrible experience and I felt that if we hadn't spoken up, our tax preparer would have tried to continue doing it herself and likely set us up with errors in our taxes.Update: we did speak with the branch manager Jerry who was very kind and respectful and explained what went wrong, so hopefully this won’t happen again. I appreciate that follow up and the time he spent speaking with me.

My tax preparer was excellent. He was very knowledge and professional. He asked and explained important information and provided many tips for 2023 tax year.

My reason for scoring H&R Block is that I have been going to this location for years. Although the agent I saw has passed away I still get the same friendly and professional service from all of the staff when I go into their office.

Waited almost 2 months and wasn't sure why I hadn't received my tax return yet. When I looked on the IRS website to find the status of my return, it said that the information I put in wasn't correct so I called H&R to figure out what was going on only to find out that they forgot to submit my return. Kind of annoying to pay over $100 for a service that isn't done correctly with only an "oops" as an apology

My tax representative couldn't answer any of my questions. She told me straight up I don't know. And when I asked if someone else there could answer my questions, she said no. She told me my return was 626. Then half way through the appointment she said I owed 626. How can you get the most important part confused? If I'm paying $300 for someone to do my taxes I'd hope they could at least be reliable.
