ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!!! I recently bought an angel fish from an employee in the fish department at the Altamonte Springs, FL location. While I waited for help, I noticed there were 5 dead angel fish & several dead other fish in tanks. This bothered me because I hate the little kids seeing dead fish. Now, let me preface the rest of this complaint with the fact that I've owned MANY fish tanks, including 100 & 75 gallon freshwater, beta tanks, aggressive cichlids to docile guppies & turtle tanks, etc, so I'm not novice at fish care. I made a comment to the employee that bagged my angel fish about all the dead fish, particularly how many angels were dead because I was hesitant to even take one home! He said that they get sent WAAAAYYYY TOO MANY angels every week!!!! He said they get about 25 angels per teeny, tiny divided tanks!!! That management seems to think it's ok because they sell so fast that it's not like they're living long-term in these awful conditions. He said it's been an ongoing problem for a LONG TIME!!!!! He said he wished he could talk directly to their suppliers & ask them not to send so many, but that management insists on keeping the tanks overcrowded since the angels in particular are "great sellers & they move fast!" I CERTAINLY HOPE THEY DON'T SINGLE OUT THIS EMPLOYEE & REPRIMAND HIM FOR USING HIS 1ST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!! This bothered me, but I took a chance on one lucky angel & tried to save it. Well, NO SURPRISE, it died that night!!! When I returned it, I made a comment to the same employee about how it upset me that these angels were basically SUFFOCATING TO DEATH in these death chambers of tiny tanks. He again expressed how he wished he had the authority to change the buying process. I'm a gluten for punishment, so I took ANOTHER CHANCE on what was a new batch (their shipments come in every Thursday) of angels & opted to replace my dead one instead of getting a refund, even though this time there were at least 7 dead angels & 8 dead fish in other tanks!!!!! AGAIN, it died within hours!!!! When I returned it, determined now to NEVER GIVE PETSMART ANOTHER PENNY, I made a comment to the cashier handling my refund about their animal cruelty. Well, that ruffled some feathers because there were other customers in line who heard me, so she asked if I wanted to talk to a manager. I said, "ABSOLUTELY!" She came over & I told her this same story & she flat out denied that it was their practice to overcrowd their tanks, that the employee was making this up (never said he was new or in training) & blah, blah, blah. I told her I didn't believe a word she was saying, so she called another manager over to hear this outrageous claim. He proceeded to recite their shipment process of how they hold fish in some warehouse somewhere to make sure they're healthy for 10 days or some other frankly bullsh*t story. I told him that I didn't believe him either. He said, "Well, here's what I can do. I can tell you that we do quarantine the fish before shipment. We do not order more fish than we have room for. Blah, blah, blah. " I said, "Well, sir, here's what I can do. I can & WILL write a complaint on Google Reviews about your blatantly obvious ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!! Oh, & I have over 80k views of my Reviews, so that's a pretty good audience to hear of your cruel process & how you're letting dead fish rot in tanks til the dead bodies are sucked up & stick against the filter intake valve from the suction! How little kids get to see this as they're there looking for their first pet. How you force parents to have that tough talk about life & death, maybe years earlier than they'd otherwise like to, then we'll see what happens!!!!! I, for one, am NEVER GIVING PETSMART ANOTHER DIME!!!! MY ENTIRE FAMILY & I WON'T BE BUYING ANY OF YOUR DYING FISH OR ANY TREATS, BONES, TOYS, ETC FOR MY 2 DOGS EITHER! I’ve been a client for 5 years now, today I was told they could not groom my baby because he had some matts. My dog always have had mats, and never had a problem before. They recommended me to have it shave by their inhouse vet, which will charge me an arm and a leg!! Needless to say, I went to another grooming store, and they did a great job, no complaints about anything, they say have some matts, but nothing severe! Be careful !

Pet smart is a big scam do not ever take your animals there they will try to getnu on a plan that your dog does not need... they are poisoning our animals with the so called vaccine my dog is shaking and acting really weird after there vaccine....EVERYONE SAVE YOUR ANIMALS AND STAY AWAY FROM PET SMART

PetSmart has a great selection of dog foods. They carry many brands and have a large selection. We are able to get a brand that works for our dog with allergies. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Thank you PetSmart Altamonte.
