This has got to be the all-time worst experience ever. Brought my car in on 11/21/2023 because the timing chain broke. Through my warranty company they replaced the engine, after almost a full month I finally got the car back on 12/20/2023. Then had to take it back because it wasn't running right on 12/22/2023. The engine replacement was defective. No car for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years, it was back in for another engine replacement. I finally got it back on 2/4/2024 and it is worse than ever. My windshield wipers don't work, the transmission slips between 2nd and 3rd gear, and now it constantly says reduced engine power with a check engine light, the rpm gauge is stuck on 0 and if I am at a stop for too long it also stalls. This is insane. The worst part is that my warranty company will probably require me to go back to them to get these issues resolved. STAY AWAY FROM PEP BOYS!!! THEY WILL LEAVE YOU WITHOUT A CAR FOR MONTHS AND TO TOP IT OFF THEY HAVE NO F'N CLUE ON HOW TO FIX CARS.

Well, finally after almost 2 months, the cage transfer was changed, and as expected, the car continued with the same noise. I had to receive the car because no other option was given. It is supposed that I have to find a second opinion to discover the reason for the noise. I was told that it was related to a fluid leaking in the transmission. So finally,I had to pay more than $1000 for no original front struts that required to use the old coils, and to take my car with a new noise, not able to be resolved/diagnosed. I have been trying to be as polite as possible but sadly PEPBOYS appears that hardly can be trusted for oil change and rotation.

Terrible experience waited for 8 days. The estimate there was $7,548.00 and the problem was something other than what they listed. I don't think no one even looked at the problem.

Mr. Collette,We hope your holiday was nice. We are reaching out to advise you on our experience at one of your Central Florida locations, 2000 Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL, 32703.We noticed our 2014 Ford Explorer was leaking. Bar’s Leaks Liquid Aluminum Radiator & Heater Core Stop Leak was used to slow the leaking and it did. On Friday 12.15, the Engine Coolant Overtemperature light came on. See below picture. The car was parked overnight to cool down. Saturday morning the car was taken to your Apopka store location. The employees were told that the Bar’s Leak product was used to stop the leaking. We were told no problem, the radiator could be flushed & the remaining product would come out. After your employees ran the diagnostics on the Explorer, we received an almost $4,000 repair work order for a water pump replacement, work order #2311909. We trusted that your technicians knew what was needed to get the car repaired. We were told that the radiator would be flushed to remove the Bar’s Leak product. The Explorer was left on 12.16 to be finished on 12.17.After paying $3,993.56, the car was driven off your store property. Not even 15 minutes later, the same Engine Coolant Overtemperature light came on. Your Apopka store was immediately contacted. We were advised to bring it back in & the radiator would need to be flushed again due to the Bar’s Leak product that was used to stop the leaking. In the $3993.56, we were charged $207 for a headlight. The headlight had to be ordered because it was not in stock. After our 3rd visit, the headlight could not be found. We asked for a refund & we replaced the headlight ourselves. The Explorer was brought in on 12.18 to be flushed again. It was on 12.18, we were told that the radiator would now need to be replaced. Another $1,299.61, work order #2312010.We did not have the radiator replaced. We are questioning whether or not the water pump was ever the initial cause of the engine light, was it radiator all along? Shouldn’t the diagnostic report should have showed a water pump issue and a radiator issue? We have disputed that credit card charges from the 12.16/12.17. The Explorer was brought in with the dashboard signal below. We paid for a repair. And the same dashboard signal is on. As far as we are concerned, no repair was completed.According to your mission statement, “In today’s world, good enough is simply not enough. To excel, you need a team that has your back. A team you can trust. A team that will go that extra step so that you can get to where you want to go - with your family, or for your career, and on your adventures.” Right now, we do not trust PepBoys. We both work full time to support our family. We need the Explorer to be fixed and in good working condition. Several work days and hours have been lost due to this issue. We truly hope you stand behind the PepBoys mission and help us resolve this issue.
