Dutton Island Preserve is a beloved nature destination that offers a serene and enjoyable walking experience for the local community. The 1.5-mile loop trail takes around 40 minutes to complete, providing scenic views of the surrounding area. While the views may not be considered spectacular, the trail is well-kept, peaceful, and allows visitors to immerse themselves in the natural environment. The preserve offers a variety of activities, including hiking, fishing, and even overnight camping with prior permission. It is a popular spot for scouting groups, who appreciate the close proximity and relative ease of the nature walk. However, the preserve is facing the negative effects of climate change, with a concerning decline in the mature tree canopy due to salt water intrusion and pest pressure. Despite these challenges, Dutton Island Preserve remains a cherished asset for the local community, offering a tranquil and picturesque setting for wildlife photography, birdwatching, and family outings. The custom birdhouses and local art along the trail add to the charm of this natural oasis.
Beautiful park, kayak launch easily accessible from parking lot especially at high tide.

This was a very enjoyable walk with some great views. It took about 40 minutes to complete going the longest way possible. I didn’t give it five stars because it lacks elevation changes and while the views were great, they were not spectacular.
