After belonging to Gold's Gym/Just Move for a few years, I grew really tired of a few things: Too many people and not enough machines. Also, I don't like being locked into a contract. So, off I went looking for an alternative. It just so happened that PF had an ad on tv that week saying that I could join up for just $1, $10 per month, and no contract. So off I went to check it out. The only people who wouldn't be able to get a full workout in at this gym are the pro bodybuilders. There aren't any true benches, and no true squat racks either. No full size barbells of any kind. There are however adjustable benches and plenty of dumbbells, so you can still do chest flies. Anyway, I don't want to rant about all of that because that's not why I go to PF. I'm a cyclist/triathlete. I go to do legs and run on days with inclement weather. They have exercise bikes and dozens and dozens of treadmills/elliptical machines. Most of the people I see in the gym are there for cardio, although there are plenty of other people working out on various weight machines, which again there are plenty of. This gym is large, extremely clean and very well run. After a few months of going, I changed my membership to the $21 a month deal, still with no contract. I wanted to take advantage of the aqua massage tables, massage chairs, tanning booths and be able to bring a friend for free. I can now also use any location in the country. I'm sure they're not all as clean and well run as this one, but it doesn't really matter. I'm not really a jet setter and I usually bring my bike wherever I go and get my workout in that way. If you want to take advantage of the no contract deal, just keep checking with them and join when they have that deal going. They also have free personal trainer assistance and lots of other workouts there, although I don't do any of that. Go check it out for yourself, my fingers are tired and I promise you won't be disappointed, unless your idea of the gym is grunting noises, people talking more than working out, and everyone staring in the mirror at themselves. Yuck.
