Host are incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast is different and delicious each day. Love, the setting couldn’t possibly be better. It has its own private beach topped off by the friendly key deer!Rooms: I have stayed here several times over the last decade. All the rooms are unique and very inviting. I will definitely definitely be coming back.

Absolutely fabulous place. Stayed here for two nights, right on the beach, with the lovely key deer visiting. A really nice atmosphere on big pine key. Close enough to visit Key West, but not so busy.

We were highly disappointed to have driven 3 hours from Miami having planned the trip for a few months, to find we couldn’t access our room. There is no staff on site, they do not answer their phone, and it is now 24 hours later, they haven’t returned my call. Apparently they were supposed to send an email 24 hrs prior to arrival with check in instructions. Neither my, nor my wife’s, email accounts, or spam, have anything from this place. So I canceled and had to book at the crummy motel down the street. And now they want to charge me a cancellation fee of one day plus fees! Pissed is an understatement. I wouldn’t send anyone here. Also - check out the shared bathrooms! Additionally not sure how it’s a bed and breakfast. To my knowledge there is no restaurant, a shared fridge outside is all we saw.

I had an outstanding stay here on my trip to big pine key. Wendy, the owner, made a fresh breakfast every morning and was so hospitable. The rooms were immaculately clean and the hotel location is perfect. I was only about 15 minutes from Bahia Honda which had great snorkeling and 40 minutes from key west, plus sometimes I saw little key deer wandering around the property. This was a great little B and B, and on my next trip to the keys I’ll definitely be staying here again.

My 5 star rating is given because as an overall experience Barnacle B&B provided my wife and me with a very positive and unusual experience. The owner, a world traveler, has adapted a set of structures that, over the years, has been devastated by hurricanes into a qwerky and comfortable island hideaway. Her inventiveness and energy are on full display. If you are looking for a unique experience with a great breakfast try it.Rooms: Rooms are unique and personal

We stayed in the Ocean room and it was fantastic! A walk out to the beach with your morning coffee or evening beverage couldn't be better. You can watch the Key Deer walk right by! (Don't forget it's illegal to feed them. That's for their own good folks) Wendy whips up a plentiful and tasty breakfast. The AC worked great and the bed was super comfortable. You can snorkel just a few miles away at horseshoe beach or Bahia Honda beach. We look forward to coming back next year!

Great accommodation with super nice house people. The rooms have a great flair, including the stained glass windows. Every day there was a different, very tasty breakfast with a view of the sea. A small roof terrace invites you to enjoy the sunset. Guests have free use of kayaks to explore the mangrove forests. The bicycles there can also be used. A highlight are the Key Deer (Island Deer) which are everywhere on Big Pine Key.

This is our second time to stay at the Barnacle. It is a delightful, fun, quirky kind of place with many nooks and cranies to discover. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was different and special every day. Wendy made recommendatioins for things to do and where to eat. (Do try the Ahi Tuna Nachos at Kiki's Sand Bar!!) There were kyaks and bicylcles. Lots of Key Deer that walk right up to you. There is a grill, so get your steaks and get going!!! We will be there again!

Wendy (new owner) and her family’s hospitality surpassed all of our expectations. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The property is very unique and has many architectural elements of homes I have visited in South America - there is an atrium in the center of the home with the guest rooms surrounding it. The common space is open air and offers lovely views of the beach. In the evening, be sure to climb the spiral staircase and stargaze to your hearts content. The rooms are not fancy and need a little updating, but they have everything you need for a restful night’s sleep. We look forward to returning soon to see the exciting renovations Wendy and her family are planning. Each morning we were treated to a substantial homemade breakfast that left us satisfied until mid afternoon. It was a treat to stay here and meet Wendy, her family, as well as guests from all over the world. We look forward to our next visit.

Absolutely perfect stay. Haven't got a back thing to say! Our host was amazing and so friendly! The breakfast was delicious. Quiet area, but we loved this after our busy stay in Key West, the quiet also brought the wild deer right outside our room which was so surreal and nothing like we have ever seen before. The owners are doing the property up bit by bit, we would love to go back once they have finished!Rooms: The room was big and the ocean view was perfect. Our room location was great for using the BBQ and hammock!Nearby activities: Taking the properties Kayaks on the water across the road!Food & drinks: Breakfast was delicious both mornings we were there!

Very lovely location in the middle of the Keys. Nice accommodations and the new owner Wendy is very helpful and does whatever she can to make your stay a pleasant one. Her staff was great, and the cooked breakfast each morning was a tasty and satisfying delight. We especially liked using the kayaks (on their property across the street -- wonderful, peaceful waters for kayaking and swimming) and found the whole experience very relaxing and pleasant. We had everything we needed to have a great vacation and look forward to a return visit to see all the upgrades and changes Wendy has planned.

Before booking a room at the Barnacle B&B be sure you understand their no refund for cancellation policy! They will not refund your money and charge the full amount no matter what the circumstance! We had a two night reservation on April 12th, the day of the big storm and severe flooding in SE Florida. WE physically could not drive from Fort Lauderdale to big Pine Key due to 25" of rain in less than 24 hours! Many roads were closed and flooded, we could not access Rt 95. I called them and they did not care about our safety. The owner said drive you should be fine but you will be charged for the two nights either way!I know they have many nice reviews and I cannot comment on there facilities but I will never do business with them again! If you decide to, don't book too far in advance like I did! Unforeseen circumstances are hard to predict and they don't care!!
