Horseshoe Beach is a charming and dog-friendly destination perfect for those looking to snorkel and enjoy the outdoors. Located near a campsite, it provides a rocky cove ideal for swimming, but visitors are advised to wear water shoes due to the terrain. The beach, formerly a limestone quarry, features a deep center that makes it suitable for snorkeling, especially for beginners. Snorkelers can expect to see a variety of marine life, including parrotfish, jellyfish, and even southern stingrays. The calm waters are easy to navigate, making it a great spot for families to teach kids how to snorkel. While the beach area may be small and lacks sandy shores, it offers shade from trees and a quieter atmosphere, especially during early morning visits. Fishing is also popular here, and while swimming might not be its strongest point, the overall experience and the chance to see diverse aquatic life make Horseshoe Beach a hidden gem worth exploring for anyone interested in a laid-back aquatic adventure.
It was a pretty spot! Take water shoes if you plan on swimming; it's a rocky cove. I went snorkeling there and saw lots of fish and jellyfish, but it's pretty cloudy in the water, so not the best visibility when you get deeper. However, it's good for beginners if you are just trying out snorkeling.
