I’ve been a customer since 2011-2012, bringing 3 of my dogs for check ups and all the services they offer to take care of them on the regular along the way. Over the time up until now I’ve been thrilled with the caring nature of their doctors and care takers, however that has clearly CLEARLY changed in the last few years as they’ve become a more modern and upscale vet. They’re still fine and great for normal wellness check ups, but the prices are - higher, but thats fine because they’re really convenient and caring to my dog.The problem is however, not when your dog is well, but when an issue arises, an injury, an infection, a sickness, or worse an actual emergency. DO NOT GO HERE. I am upset to say that when my dog had an injury with her hip, they did everything to convince me to throw every dime at the situation, which if they had listened closer (and not seen dollar signs), she didnt need it. And worse, when I agreed to an X-RAY (that I eventually cancelled) they tacked on several several optional vaccines and wellness checks that aren’t normally a ‘required’ service that they wouldnt do the X-ray unless I agreed to them. Substantially increasing the cost. For comparison, I got the same service done at a vet 1/2 mile away on Dixie, with no other requirements for less than half the price.Im saddened to post this review, as I have nothing but positive memories of them taking care of my past two dogs and my current dog. However, for me, a vet shows its true colors not in the normal care that is routine - but when something is ACTUALLY wrong. VCA Spanish river has shifted to a boutique vet, whom is profit oriented more than care oriented, and taking care of your dog when they actually have issues is always going to be secondary in their mission. How sad.

This was such a great experience for my pup and I! The receptionist was so happy, uplifting and kind made it so easy to check in. I then had the most amazing tech she was so nice and friendly. Made conversation and also informed me on the next steps of the appointment she was awesome. After, another woman came in and she was so so sweet!!!! She showed me her fur babies and was so kind to Wilbur! Lastly I met the sweetest doctor. She was so nice and so smart. She explained possibilities of what can be the cause to certain issues with my pup and how I can go about fixing them! She also told me about why certain vaccines are important and how the illness could be contacted! This was such an amazing and easy experience for us! Thank you so much ladies!!

Dr. Greenland is AMAZING! Our vet experience with him has been the best of any veterinarian anywhere ever. He went over everything and took the extra time to explain everything in perfect detail. The rest of the staff at VCA Spanish River have also always been incredibly nice. We travel here from Hollywood and will definitely continue doing so!

This office has gone above and beyond for us. When they weren't sure about something they found an answer or were able to direct me to a place that did. Thank you Dr. Greenland, Lexi & Reena!

Horrendous. We brought our tiny morkie in and he could barely breathe due to a collapsed trachea. The nurse insisted that he get a rabies shot before they would even look at or help him! We simply left. A horrible vet

I give VCA Spanish River ZERO stars. They answer the phone "where we treat your pets like family" but that is the last thing they do. They are careless and negligent and instead my sentiment is they treat pets like transactions. I took my puppy in for a rabies vaccine and he developed a rabies vaccine site lump which they promised they would watch since they typically go down, but they did not call me one time to check on his lump, instead I made 2 separate appointments to bring him in to have it checked and it was only after the second appointment when almost one year had passed that they decided to remove it. When I arrived on the day of surgery they grabbed my Baci from my arms and took him with intentions to perform a completely different surgery! If I had not caught what they said they were doing, my puppy would have been negligently operated for something he did not go in for. This is apalling, and what's more, they actually tried to excuse this mistake rather than simply apologizing and ackowledging they had erroneously prepared documentation for a surgery I did not approve and my puppy did not need. Needless to say I moved veterinarians and to this day not one person from VCA Spanish River has contacted me to discuss what happened that day, and why I am no longer a client/patient.

This place is SO expensive, but they are the also most wonderful vet I’ve ever frequented! SO kind and good with animals, and also they’re understanding when i miss an appointment.

We adopted our dog Billy from the humane society of broward county. They recommend VCA and if you adopt from the humane society, VCA gives you a free check up. Knowing this I thought we would use the free check up and find another vet. We had our check up and I was AMAZED at the service. I've been to plenty of vets that try to sell you everything under the sun. Not VCA. They were compassionate, caring, and listened to every concern I had with my new rescue. We immediately signed up for their CareClub membership and have been members for over a year now. It is such a sense of security knowing I can bring him in anytime I have a concern and my CareClub covers the visit. The girls at the front are so amazing and know Billy by name when he comes in! They truly do treat your pets like family. We recently attended the VCA walk for the animals in Fort Lauderdale to give back to the shelter that gave us our sweet boy. It was the least we could do. VCA was there and it was so nice being able to share Billy's story and our VCA experience. Keep doing what you're doing! You're appreciated!

Took my 13 year old Maine Coon there yesterday because we suspected she might have a cold. We are new to FL so I had her records transferred there. I almost had a heart attack when they came out with a proposal that would have cost us between $750 and $940. They wanted to charge us $175 for a 3 year rabies shot for a strictly indoor cat. When I protested, I was told the vet won't see her unless she gets a rabies shot, but we could do a one year for $70. I have found out online that there is absolutely no difference other than a label between a one year and a three year. Dosage is exactly the same. In addition, I found out that a rabies shot from the county is $18. Next ridiculous big ticket item is she wanted to run a full senior blood panel for almost $400. Spoke to the lady who runs a rescue where we adopted two kittens from a month ago. She's been in this business for close to 20 years and told me that a senior blood panel for a cat should be between $125 and $140. Run from this place as fast as you can. All they want is your $$$.

I have been going to VCA Spanish River for about two years and have nothing but great things to say. Everyone there is so kind and helpful! Dr. Greenland really takes the time to explain things and listen to your every concern. We recently moved to Hollywood but find it absolutely worth it making the drive up to receive quality care for our babies.

Doctor Greenland and the crew have always been there for us. Over the years we have had several dogs and they received the love and care from this facility. Always dealing with our pets needs in a compassionate way. We have moved further away from their location but still make the drive due to the sense of care we feel we are receiving. I personally would not go to any other vet.

I have had 2 bad experiences at this practice with my 2 different dogs. One of my dogs was in critical condition and when we arrived there at the time that the office is supposed to open, the vet had not yet arrived. My dog died that day, at Calusa Veterinary Center, where they redirected me, wasting precious time, since their vet was late to work. Once I was ready, I got a new puppy and gave them a 2nd chance with boarding him there. Although I did decided to put my prec
