Don't let this happen to you! I learned the hard way. $17,500.00 gone. LMCU will not be returning my money. I did not report the fraudulent counterfeit checks to LMCU in the time allowed (30days after statement made available). Two counterfeit fraudulent checks were processed through my LMCU account. They had LMCU routing number and my account number. I NEVER had checks on my account. In addition, the checks bear a mans name. No one at LMCU called to alert me of the fraud. When asked how this could have happened, Josh Wolf in fraud dept (loss prevention) said, we (LMCU) do not have the have the ability to monitor, or the manpower to look at every check. I am disappointed and saddened. I read their mission statements and philosophy - *we are accountable directly to our member's * it's always been about doing what's best and right for our members. It guides everything we do *nothing is more valuable than peace of mind I spoke to a branch manager at Chase...I showed her what had occurred. I asked if the same thing could happen there.....the branch manager said it it's unlikely- because they have more money to put into fraud security infrastructure. Word of warning- monitor your account at least ever 30 days, even if you are only making deposits and not really using the account. Also, make sure you have automatic alerts set After reading this- decide if Lake Michigan Credit Union is right for you.

I'm writing to recommend Encore Bank and branch manager Sally Ricciardelli. This is a wonderful local bank, where everyone knows your name and goes out of their way to help. I've had a very positive experience. My wife and I bank at Encore and I happily refer clients to Sally.
