I needed a battery check and a new battery. They said they couldn’t take me until all the customers were out of the store. That made no sense since I was a customer. As I’m waiting, 2 more people walked in and were taken before me. I have unfortunately been here one other time and they are extremely slow and not knowledgeable.

The Gentleman Andrew that helped me on Saturday was so efficient . He was helping multiple customers installing batteries and wipers at the same time while I was waiting for him to test my battery and was honest about telling me that it was not my battery that was the problem when he could have upsold me something I didn't need. He referred to to a mechanic that his store does a lot of business with and I'm back on the road and completely satisfied I will only shop at that store his professionalism and honesty makes me happy that Advanced hires competent and honest employees.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING A BATTERY AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS: Last week, 4/23/24, my car battery died. On the Advance Auto Parts website I found an in-stock $89.99 "Value" battery for my 2013 Chevy Captiva Sport. I had my car jumped and went to the store to purchase the battery and have it installed as I am an older man without any tools or mechanical knowledge and their website indicates free installation. Employee Thomas S. said that there was no such Value battery for my car. After much back and forth I was told that if my car did not say SPORT on the back of the vehicle then my car was not a SPORT model. After checking and returning inside, I informed him that it does not say SPORT on the back but told him that is the make and model of my car. He proceeded to tell me that the least expensive battery was $214.99. I was so confused and had no choice but to purchase the battery. He then informed me that he only had 3 employees in the store and they could not install or assist me with the installation. I was very surprised as they weren't even busy. After inquiring, he said he did not have any tools to let me use. Without help, I managed to get my car started and take the new battery home and find someone in my community to assist me with installation. I then went back to the company website to verify the Value Battery by entering my VIN number. Indeed, the $89.99 value battery was displayed as an option.
I immediately returned to the store and inquired as to why he had upsold a battery to me when I had requested the VALUE battery which was on the website for my make/model. We went back and forth as he kept telling me that I was wrong. When he realized that I was not going to back down he started to look in the system and say, "Oh, I must have pulled up a different vehicle." I was dumbfounded how that was possible as we discussed what vehicle it was and he had repeated it to me numerous times after telling me that I did not have a SPORT model. After finally pulling the correct battery, he informed me that he could not assist me with the installation. (This was at the time that I was the only customer in the store and other employees were standing around.) He told me that if I wanted the exchange I would have to remove it myself. He also insisted that he had no loaner tool available for me and told me that there were tools available to purchase so I could remove it myself. Now, in a real bind, I purchased a tool, took the old battery out, replaced it with the new battery, and went back inside. Thomas S. then stated he needed to check the condition of the new battery I just returned to ensure it qualified for a return. The return was eventually completed.
I was totally dumbfounded by this entire experience and have never had such a bad customer service experience. After waiting one day to cool down, I contacted the corporate office and filed a complaint and was assured that the GM and district manager would be notified and someone would contact me. The corporate customer service rep also seemed genuinely appalled at the experience. I contacted customer service today to inquire about the case # that I had filed and they stated that their escalation timeframe had expired and she wasn't sure why no one had contacted me. As of this writing today, no one from Advance Auto Parts has attempted to contact me. I will never shop at their stores again and I suggest that you take this experience in mind when choosing an auto parts store near you.

Just had a great experience! Andre helped me choose and install wiper blades. He was extremely helpful and courteous at the time it was threatening rain and I had to get on the highway.

Helpful especially if you know what you need or have a good idea about cars. If you are novice you should leave buying parts to your mechanic.
Either way be prepared to know what kind of car you need parts for. You will be surprised how many people have no idea what they drive.
